A prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible and expandable stent having a proximal end and a distal end, and a collapsible and expandable valve assembly, the valve assembly including a plurality of leaflets connected to at least one of the stent and a cuff. The heart valve further includes a conformable band disposed about the perimeter of the stent near the proximal end for filling gaps between the collapsible prosthetic heart valve and a native valve annulus.

The invention claimed is: 1. A prosthetic heart valve, comprising: a collapsible and expandable stent having a proximal end, and a distal end, the stent in an expanded condition having a minimum diameter and a maximum diameter, the maximum diameter being greater than the minimum diameter; a valve assembly including a plurality of leaflets coupled to the stent, and a cuff coupled to the stent, the cuff having a first edge and a second edge; and a first conformable band including a plurality of distinct beads defining a plurality of alternating peaks and valleys, each of the plurality of distinct beads being connected to adjacent beads, the first conformable band being disposed between the first edge and the second edge of the cuff around a portion of a circumference of the stent, and having an outer diameter that is greater than the minimum diameter and less than the maximum diameter, each of the plurality of distinct beads being configured to fill gaps between the stent and body tissue. 2. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads comprises a braided nitinol mesh. 3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the adjacent beads are connected at the valleys to form a ring. 4. The device of claim 3 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads is connected to an adjacent bead at a junction. 5. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads is packed with a filler. 6. The device of claim 5 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads further comprises a polyester fabric intertwined with a braided metal fabric to increase density of the bead. 7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the stent includes an annuls section adjacent the proximal end, an aortic section adjacent the distal end, and a transition section between the annulus section and the aortic section, and the first conformable band is disposed adjacent the annulus section of the stent. 8. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads is lens-shaped. 9. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads is eye-shaped. 10. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads is dome-shaped. 11. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of distinct beads includes a flat-surface that contacts the cuff. 12. The device of claim 1 , wherein the stent includes a plurality of cells, one of the cells having a first width, and at least one of the plurality of distinct beads has a second width that is equal to the first width. 13. The device of claim 1 , wherein the stent includes a plurality of cells, one of the cells having a first length, and at least one of the plurality of distinct beads has a second length that approximately half of the first length. 14. The device of claim 1 , further comprising: a second conformable band spaced away from the first conformable band, the second conformable band having a second plurality of distinct beads. 15. The device of claim 14 , wherein the stent includes an annulus section adjacent the proximal end, an aortic section adjacent the distal end, and a transition section between the annulus section and the aortic section, and the second conformable band is disposed between the transition section and the proximal end. 16. A prosthetic heart valve, comprising: a collapsible and expandable stent having a proximal end, and a distal end; a valve assembly including a plurality of leaflets coupled to the stent, and a cuff coupled to the stent, the cuff having a first edge and a second edge; and a first conformable band including a plurality of distinct beads defining a plurality of alternating peaks and valleys and, each of the plurality of distinct beads being connected to adjacent beads, the first conformable band being disposed between the first edge and the second edge of the cuff around a portion of an outer circumference of the stent, each of the plurality of distinct beads being configured to fill gaps between the stent and body tissue. 17. The device of claim 16 , wherein the stent includes a plurality of cells arranged in rows, and the first conformable band is distinct over a proximal-most row of cells. 18. The device of claim 16 , wherein the stent includes a plurality of cells arranged in rows, and a number of the plurality of distinct beads of the first conformable band is equal to a number of cells in the proximal-most row of cells. 19. The device of claim 18 , wherein each cell in the proximal-most row of cells at least partially overlaps with one of the plurality of distinct beads. 20. A prosthetic heart valve, comprising: a collapsible and expandable stent having a proximal end, and a distal end; a valve assembly including a plurality of leaflets coupled to the stent, and a cuff coupled to the stent, the cuff having a first edge and a second edge; and a first conformable band including a plurality of distinct beads defining a plurality of alternating peaks and valleys and, each of the plurality of distinct beads being connected to adjacent beads, the first conformable band being disposed around a portion of an outer circumference of the stent, each of the plurality of distinct beads being configured to fill gaps between the stent and body tissue.
