What is claimed is: 1. A door system for mounting in an opening having a sill, the door system comprising; a door frame having a latch side vertical jamb, a hinge side vertical jamb, and a header attached to a top of the latch side vertical jamb and a top of the hinge side vertical jamb; a door panel having a first side edge, a second side edge, a top edge, and a bottom edge, the door panel being hingedly mounted along the first side edge to the hinge side vertical jamb; and a bottom spacer positioned such that at least a portion of the bottom spacer is located along the bottom edge of the door panel such that the at least a portion of the bottom spacer is located between the bottom edge of the door panel and the sill of the opening when the door system is positioned in the opening such that a bottom of the latch side vertical jamb and a bottom of the hinge side vertical jamb rest on the sill of the opening, and wherein the bottom spacer is located closer to the second side edge of the door panel and the latch side vertical jamb than to the first side edge of the door panel and the hinge side vertical jamb; wherein the bottom spacer racks the door system in the opening such that the door system is out of square with respect to the opening when the door system is positioned in the opening with the bottom of the latch side vertical jamb and the bottom of the hinge side vertical jamb resting on the sill of the opening, and such that the bottom spacer spaces the bottom edge of the door panel at the second side edge farther from the sill than the bottom edge of the door panel at the first side edge. 2. A door system according to claim 1 , wherein the bottom spacer is attached to the door panel. 3. A door system according to claim 1 , wherein the door system comprises a sweep having one or more sweep fins disposed along the bottom edge of the door panel, wherein the bottom spacer covers at least a portion of the one or more sweep fins. 4. A door system according to claim 1 , wherein the latch side vertical jamb comprises a channel that is configured along at least a portion of a length of the latch side vertical jamb to receive and capture a latch bolt of the door panel when the door panel is closed. 5. A door system according to claim 4 , wherein the latch side vertical jamb is shaped to define a strike bar configured to engage and retract a latch bolt as the door panel closes. 6. A door system according to claim 1 , wherein the latch side vertical jamb comprises a channel that is configured along an entire length of the latch side vertical jamb to receive and capture a latch bolt of the door panel when the door panel is closed. 7. A door system according to claim 1 , wherein a gap is formed between the header and a top of the opening when the bottom of the latch side vertical jamb and the bottom of the hinge side vertical jamb are resting on the sill. 8. A door system according to claim 7 , wherein the door system comprises a mounting flange configured for attachment to the header over the gap. 9. A door system according to claim 8 , wherein the mounting flange comprises a bottom edge that is configured to interlock with the header. 10. A door system according to claim 7 , wherein the door system comprises a first mounting flange configured for attachment to the header and a second mounting flange configured for attachment to the header. 11. A door system according to claim 10 , wherein the first mounting flange has a first height and the second mounting flange has a second height, wherein the first height and the second height are different. 12. A door system according to claim 10 , wherein the first mounting flange comprises a bottom edge that is configured to interlock with the header and a top edge that is configured to interlock with a bottom edge of the second mounting flange. 13. A door system according to claim 12 , wherein the second mounting flange comprises a top edge that is configured to interlock with the bottom edge of the first mounting flange, and wherein the bottom edge of the second mounting flange is configured to interlock with the header. 14. A door system according to claim 1 , the door system comprising a closer bracket assembly having a base configured for attachment to the opening and a closer bracket configured for removable attachment to the base. 15. A door system according to claim 14 , wherein the base comprises attachment holes for receiving screws and wherein the attachment holes are aligned in a non-vertical array when the base is attached to the opening in a manner that properly positions the closer bracket relative to the door such that a closer attached to the closer bracket operates to close the door panel. 16. A door system according to claim 14 , wherein the base mechanically interlocks with the closer bracket to removably attach the closer bracket to the base. 17. A door system according to claim 16 , wherein the base and the closer bracket comprise at least one tab and at least one complementary slot configured to retain the at least one tab to mechanically interlock the base and the closer bracket. 18. A door system according to claim 1 , the door system comprising a latch assembly configured for installation in the door panel, the latch assembly comprising a latch mechanism, first and second escutcheon plates, and first and second handles, wherein at least the first handle is configured to be rotatably attached to the first escutcheon plate when the first handle is in an insertion orientation relative to the first escutcheon plate, and wherein the first handle cannot be detached from the first escutcheon plate when the first handle is not in the insertion orientation relative to the first escutcheon plate. 19. A door system according to claim 18 , wherein the first handle has a hub comprising a key and the first escutcheon plate has a handle opening comprising a complementary keyway, the keyway being configured to receive the key when the first handle is in the insertion orientation relative to the first escutcheon plate, and wherein the first handle cannot be detached from the first escutcheon plate when the first handle is not in the insertion orientation relative to the first escutcheon plate. 20. A door system according to claim 19 , wherein the first handle comprises a plurality of keys and the first escutcheon plate comprises a plurality of complementary keyways. 21. A door system according to claim 18 , wherein the second handle has a second handle hub comprising a second handle key and the second escutcheon plate has a second escutcheon plate handle opening comprising a complementary second escutcheon plate keyway, the second escutcheon plate keyway being configured to receive the second handle key when the second handle is in an insertion orientation relative to the second escutcheon plate, and wherein the second handle cannot be detached from the second escutcheon plate when the second handle is not in the insertion orientation relative to the second escutcheon plate.
