Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An interactive kiosk configured to display items, attract consumers and maintain a consistent display appearance. The kiosk includes a vertically-oriented interactive display having an array of LED modules which are programmed to show images or other data related to intended purpose of the kiosk display. A combination of LED modules and non-visible filler panels behind a header panel can be included. One or more shelves, including optionally a top shelf having an interactive display is provided for displaying objects with which a user can securely interact, or otherwise select for purchase. The kiosk is adapted to mount to different retailer structures as needed.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. An interactive kiosk for mounting on an existing retail structure in order to display one or more objects, comprising: a vertical support connectable to the existing retail structure; an interactive LED display, comprising: an LED module frame supported by the vertical support, having a coating thereon, and comprising multiple LED module mountings; an LED module comprising an array of LEDs supported by the LED module frame and providing individual pixel illumination from an array of discrete individual lights; a translucent panel, removably supported in front of both the LED module and the LED module frame, wherein the translucent panel has a rear surface facing the vertical support and an opposite, front surface, wherein the translucent panel has a proximity to the array of LEDs to blur an image on the front surface of the translucent panel into a continuous image from the discrete individual lights, and wherein the coating on the LED module frame has a color generally corresponding to the color of the LED module such that the area behind the translucent panel has a more uniform albedo; an upright header panel sized to surround the interactive LED display and having at least one connection portion facing the vertical support and engageable therewith; a top shelf configured to support the one or more objects, the top shelf having respective secure connections extending from the vertical support, past the upright header panel, to each object supported thereon; and one or more lower shelves each comprising a recessed top surface, one or more positionable dividers seated within the recessed top surface, and space between the dividers for receiving and seating a portion of the one more objects in respective rows. 2. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein the coating on the LED module frame comprises a polyester triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) powder coating, wherein the coating has a matte gloss and a smooth finish. 3. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein the interactive LED display overlaps a portion of the upright header panel. 4. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein the translucent panel and the upright header panel comprise an acrylic. 5. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein each LED module is removably connected to the LED module frame. 6. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein the LED array comprises a square shaped LED module. 7. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein the one or more dividers further comprise a magnetic component, and wherein the dividers are seated within the recessed top surface. 8. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , further comprising at least one silkscreen layer having a static image thereon, wherein the silkscreen layer is disposed on at least one of the surface of the panel and the top shelf. 9. The interactive kiosk of claim 1 , wherein the array of discrete individual lights each comprise 2 mm pixels. 10. An interactive top shelf for an interactive kiosk, comprising: a base connectable to the interactive kiosk; and an LED display, comprising: a frame supported above the base; an LED module comprising an array of LEDs connected to the frame and providing individual pixel illumination from an array of discrete individual lights; one or more filler panels connected to the frame adjacent to the LED module; a coating on the frame; and a translucent panel, removably supported by the frame above the filler panels and the LED module, wherein the translucent panel has a rear surface facing the frame and an opposite, front surface, wherein the translucent panel has a proximity to the array of LEDs to blur an image on the front surface of the translucent panel into a continuous image from the discrete individual lights, and wherein the coating on the frame has a color generally corresponding to the color of the filler panels such that the area behind the translucent panel has a more uniform albedo. 11. The interactive top shelf of claim 10 , further comprising secure connections from the interactive kiosk to each object supported on the top shelf. 12. The interactive top shelf of claim 10 , wherein the coating on the frame has a color generally corresponding to a filler panel color. 13. The interactive top shelf of claim 10 , wherein the surface panel is translucent. 14. The interactive top shelf of claim 10 , wherein the surface panel comprises an acrylic. 15. The interactive top shelf of claim 10 , wherein each LED array is removably connected to the frame. 16. The interactive top shelf of claim 15 , wherein the LED array comprises one or more square modules. 17. The interactive top shelf of claim 10 , wherein the array of discrete individual lights each comprise 2 mm pixels.
