A user interface is provided to present offers via icons displayed near the location of the user on a map. Offers presented on the map may include active offers previously selected by the user and currently associated with the consumer account of the user for active participation, matching offers that have a set of targeting criteria which the user meets, and location-based offers that target locations in the vicinity of the location of the user. Icons for the location-based offers are presented at their respective targeting locations; and the active offers and matching offers are presented around the location of the user on the map for convenient access. A user interface allows the user to explore available offers, view information associated with the respective offers, and select offers in which to participate.

What is claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: providing a computing apparatus having: a data warehouse storing offer data; a communication portal coupled with the data warehouse and in communication with a plurality of mobile devices; and a transaction handler coupled with the data warehouse and in communication with an electronic payment processing network; configuring the plurality of mobile devices, wherein each respective mobile device of the plurality of mobile devices are configured with: a user locator configured to determine a location of a user of the respective mobile device; a map engine configured to present a user icon on a map in accordance with the location of the user; and an offer manager in communication with the communication portal; receiving, by the offer manager of the respective mobile device, user inputs selecting a plurality of first offers presented to the user; communicating, by the offer manager of the respective mobile device, user selections of the plurality of first offers to the portal; in response to communicating the user selections, storing, by the communication portal in the data warehouse, data associating the plurality of first offers with account information identifying a consumer account of the user, wherein the plurality of first offers is in a first category, wherein each offer in the first category is stored in the data warehouse and has a benefit and benefit redemption requirements; in response to storing the data associating the plurality of first offers with account information identifying the consumer account of the user in the data warehouse, applying, by the transaction handler, benefits of the first offers to the consumer account in response to payment transactions that are processed by the transaction handler and that satisfy benefit redemption requirements; identifying, by the offer manager of the respective mobile device, second offers that are not associated in the data warehouse with the account information of the user; in response to identifying the second offers, classifying, by the offer manager, the second offers in a second category, wherein: each offer in the second category is not stored in the data warehouse in association with the account information of the user; presenting, by the offer manager using the map engine of the respective mobile device, a set of offer icons on the map at locations determined according to categories of the offers in the respective mobile device, including: presenting first offer icons representative of offers in the first category, including the first offers, on the map near or around the location of the user regardless of merchant locations of the offers in the first category; and presenting second offer icons representative of offers in the second category, including the second offers, on the map at merchant locations of the offers in the second category without using the location of the user; wherein each of the first offer icons have a first shape corresponding to the first category and each of the second offer icons have a second shape corresponding to the second category; and in response to a current view of the map changing, removing, by the offer manager, using the map engine of the respective mobile device, a first subset of the second offer icons representative of the offers in the second category at merchant locations located outside the current view of the map. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the first offers is one of: an active offer in which the user is currently participating; and a matching active offer that has a set of targeting criteria that the user meets; and wherein each of the second offers is neither an active offer nor a matching offer. 3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising: receiving, in the computing apparatus, a user selection of a selected offer icon from the set of offer icons presented on the map; and presenting, by the computing apparatus, information regarding an offer represented by the selected offer icon. 4. A system, comprising: a computing apparatus having: a data warehouse storing offer data; a communication portal coupled with the data warehouse and in communication with a plurality of mobile devices; and a transaction handler coupled with the data warehouse and in communication with an electronic payment processing network; a mobile device, the mobile device comprising: a user locator configured to identify a location of a user of the mobile device; a map engine configured to generate data representing a map displayed on the mobile device; and an offer manager configured to: receive user inputs selecting a plurality of first offers presented to the user; communicate user selections of the plurality of first offers to the communication portal, wherein: in response to communicating the user selection, the communication portal stores in the data warehouse data associating the plurality of first offers with account information identifying a consumer account of the user, wherein the plurality of first offers are in a first category, wherein each offer in the first category is stored in the data warehouse and has a benefit and benefit redemption requirements, and in response to storing the data associating the plurality of first offers with account information identifying a consumer account of the user, applying, with the transaction handler of an electronic payment processing network, benefits of the first offers to the consumer account in response to payment transactions that are processed by the transaction handler and that satisfy benefit redemption requirements; identify second offers that are not associated in the data warehouse with account information of the user, wherein the second offers are classified in a second category in response to identifying the second offers that are not associated in the data warehouse with account information of the user, wherein: each offer in the second category is not stored in the data warehouse in association with the account information of the user; present a user interface over the map displayed on the mobile device, the user interface including a set of offer icons on the map at locations according to categories of the offers in the respective mobile device, wherein the user interface is configured to: present a user icon representing the location of the user in the map; present first offer icons representative of offers in the first category, including the first offers, on the map near or around the location of the user regardless of merchant locations of the offers in the first category; and present second offer icons representative of offers in the second category, including the second offers, on the map at merchant locations of the offers in the second category without using the location of the user; wherein each of the first offer icons has a first shape corresponding to the first category and each of the second offer icons has a second shape corresponding to the second category; and in response to a current view of the map changing, remove, using the map engine of the mobile device, a first subset of the second offer icons representative of the offers in the second category at merchant locations located outside the current view of the map. 5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the user locator includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver; and the location of the user is a location determined by the GPS receiver. 6. The system of claim 4 , wherein each of the second offer icons is selectable in the user interface to present information about the associated offer. 7.
