Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods are provided and include a web server configured to provide data to a terminal for generating a display within a web browser of the terminal. The display has a first column of selectable color chips, each representing an associated color family, and a second column of miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays, each having selectable color chips. A user selection from the first column causes a central display area to display an initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array. The display also has an enlarged color chip and a room display displaying a room. A user selection of a color from the central display area causes (i) the enlarged color chip to change to the selected color, (ii) an area of the room to be colored with the selected color, and (iii) an initial row of color palettes, each including the selected color, to be displayed.

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a web server configured to provide data to a terminal for generating a display within a web browser of the terminal, the display having: a central display area; a first column of a plurality of selectable color chips, each selectable color chip representing an associated color family, and a second column of a plurality of miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays, each miniature selectable color chip sub-family array having a plurality of selectable color chips, a user selection of a first selectable color chip from the first column causing the central display area to display an initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array that corresponds to the associated color family of the first selectable color chip and causing each miniature selectable color chip sub-family array in the second column to depict a sub-family of the associated color family of the first selectable color chip; an enlarged color chip corresponding to a first color selected from the central display area; at least one scrolling button, a user selection of the at least one scrolling button causing the central display area to display a different miniature selectable color chip sub-family array from the plurality of miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays; and a room display displaying a room; wherein a user selection of a second color selected from the central display area causes (i) the enlarged color chip to change to the second color, (ii) an area of the room to be colored with the second color, and (iii) an initial row of color palettes, each including the second color, to be displayed adjacent to the central display area. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the display includes a link to a change image display that enables selection of a type of room for display in the room display, the change image display including a plurality of selectable images, each corresponding to a different room type. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the different miniature selectable color chip sub-family array immediately precedes or immediately succeeds the initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein selection of one of the miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays from the second column causes a new miniature selectable color chip sub-family array to be displayed in the central display area in place of the initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein selection of an arrow causes a replacement row of color palettes to be displayed in place of the initial row of color palettes. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein each color palette in the replacement row of color palettes includes the second color as a trim or accent color and includes a coordinated wall color to the second color. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein each color palette includes the second color and at least two coordinating colors. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the display includes a link enabling a purchase of paint corresponding to the second color. 9. The system of claim 1 , the display further having a plurality of third color chips, each representing at least one of a paint color, a coating color, a stain color, a grout color, a textile color, a fabric color, a floor covering color, and a window treatment color. 10. A method comprising: providing, with a web server, data to a terminal for generating a display within a web browser of the terminal, the display having: a central display area; a first column of a plurality of selectable color chips, each selectable color chip representing an associated color family, and a second column of a plurality of miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays, each miniature selectable color chip sub-family array having a plurality of selectable color chips, a user selection of a first selectable color chip from the first column causing the central display area to display an initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array that corresponds to the associated color family of the first selectable color chip and causing each miniature selectable color chip sub-family array in the second column to depict a sub-family of the associated color family of the first selectable color chip; an enlarged color chip corresponding to a first color selected from the central display area; at least one scrolling button, a user selection of the at least one scrolling button causing the central display area to display a different miniature selectable color chip sub-family array from the plurality of miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays; and a room display displaying a room; wherein a user selection of a second color selected from the central display area causes (i) the enlarged color chip to change to the second color, (ii) an area of the room to be colored with the second color, and (iii) an initial row of color palettes, each including the second color, to be displayed adjacent to the central display area. 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the display includes a link to a change image display that enables selection of a type of room for display in the room display, the change image display including a plurality of selectable images, each corresponding to a different room type. 12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the different miniature selectable color chip sub-family array immediately precedes or immediately succeeds the initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array. 13. The method of claim 10 , wherein selection of one of the miniature selectable color chip sub-family arrays from the second column causes a new miniature selectable color chip sub-family array to be displayed in the central display area in place of the initial miniature selectable color chip sub-family array. 14. The method of claim 10 , wherein selection of an arrow causes a replacement row of color palettes to be displayed in place of the initial row of color palettes. 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein each color palette in the replacement row of color palettes includes the second color as a trim or accent color and includes a coordinated wall color to the second color. 16. The method of claim 10 , wherein each color palette includes the second color and at least two coordinating colors. 17. The method of claim 10 , wherein the display includes a link enabling a purchase of paint corresponding to the second color. 18. The method of claim 10 , the display having a plurality of third color chips, each representing at least one of a paint color, a coating color, a stain color, a grout color, a textile color, a fabric color, a floor covering color, and a window treatment color.
