Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Illuminated signal devices and speed detectors for audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, an illuminated signal device configured for capturing image data is provided, the device comprising a camera having a field of view, a communication module, and a processing module operatively connected to the camera and the communication module, the processing module comprising a processor, and a signal device application, wherein the signal device application configures the processor to detect motion within the field of view of the camera, capture image data in response to the detected motion using the camera, and transmit the image data to a backend server using the communication module.

What is claimed is: 1. An illuminated signal device configured for capturing image data, the device comprising: a camera having a field of view; a radar device; a communication module; a processor operatively connected to the camera, the radar device, and the communication module; and a memory storing a signal device application comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the illuminated signal device to: detect motion within the field of view of the camera, wherein the detected motion is caused by a passing vehicle; capture image data in response to the detected motion; obtain speed data of the passing vehicle using the radar device; transmit the image data to a server using the communication module; and compare the speed data of the passing vehicle to a threshold speed, and transmit the speed data to the server, using the communication module, when the speed data indicates a speed greater than the threshold speed. 2. The illuminated signal device of claim 1 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions, that when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to detect the motion using the camera. 3. The illuminated signal device of claim 1 , further comprising at least one motion sensor, wherein the at least one motion sensor is operatively connected to the processor. 4. The illuminated signal device of claim 3 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions, that when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to detect the motion using the at least one motion sensor. 5. The illuminated signal device of claim 3 , wherein the at least one motion sensor comprises at least one passive infrared (PIR) sensor. 6. The illuminated signal device of claim 1 , wherein the threshold speed is set using a speed limit input from a user. 7. The illuminated signal device of claim 1 , wherein the threshold speed is set using a geographic location of the illuminated signal device. 8. An illuminated signal device for streaming image data to a client device associated with an audio/video recording and communication device (A/V device), the illuminated signal device comprising: a power source configured to provide power to the illuminated signal device; a front panel and an illumination source, wherein the illumination source is configured to illuminate the front panel to provide a warning that the area adjacent the illuminated signal device is within a field of view of the A/V device; and a frame at least partially surrounding a perimeter of the front panel; wherein the front panel and the frame comprise an interior space that houses: a camera having a field of view; a radar device; a communication module; a processor operatively connected to the camera, the radar device, and the communication module; and a memory storing a signal device application comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the illuminated signal device to: detect a passing vehicle within the field of view of the camera; capture image data using the camera as a result of detecting the passing vehicle; obtain speed data of the passing vehicle using the radar device; and compare the speed data of the passing vehicle to a threshold speed and transmit the image data and speed data to a server using the communication module, when the speed data indicates a speed greater than the threshold speed. 9. The illuminated signal device of claim 8 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to detect a person to be within the field of view of the camera using the camera. 10. The illuminated signal device of claim 8 , further comprising at least one motion sensor, wherein the at least one motion sensor is operatively connected to the processor. 11. The illuminated signal device of claim 10 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to detect a person to be within the field of view of the camera using the at least one motion sensor. 12. The illuminated signal device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one motion sensor comprises at least one passive infrared (PIR) sensor. 13. The illuminated signal device of claim 8 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to transmit a request from the illuminated signal device to the server using the A/V device, and to connect the illuminated signal device to the client device associated with the A/V device. 14. The illuminated signal device of claim 13 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to receive, from the server, a confirmation that a user has accepted the request to connect the illuminated signal device to the client device associated with the A/V device. 15. The illuminated signal device of claim 14 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to transmit, from the illuminated signal device to the client device, the image data upon receiving the confirmation that the user has accepted the request to connect the illuminated signal device to the client device. 16. The illuminated signal device of claim 13 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to receive, from the server, a confirmation that the user has denied the request to connect the illuminated signal device to the client device. 17. The illuminated signal device of claim 16 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to terminate attempts to connect the illuminated signal device to the client device. 18. The illuminated signal device of claim 13 , wherein the signal device application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the illuminated signal device to terminate attempts to connect the illuminated signal device to the client device after a predetermined time interval. 19. The illuminated signal device of claim 8 , wherein the power source comprises at least one rechargeable battery. 20. The illuminated signal device of claim 19 , further comprising at least one solar panel, wherein the at least one solar panel is configured to charge the at least one rechargeable battery. 21. The illuminated signal device of claim 8 , wherein the illumination source comprises a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) distributed evenly about an interior perimeter of the illuminated signal device.
