The invention claimed is: 1. An article comprising: a. a carrier formed as a linear flat substrate, including a first surface and opposing second surface; b. an activatable material disposed adjacent a first terminating end of the carrier and contacting only the first surface of the carrier prior to and post activation of the activatable material, leaving a portion of the first surface free of contact with any activatable material; c. a plurality of carrier extensions extending upward from the first surface of the carrier at an angle that is skew in relation to the carrier, each extension extending partially into and substantially surrounded by the activatable material; d. a pen clip extending from a second terminating end of the carrier that directly opposes the first terminating end of the carrier, the pen clip being integrally formed with the carrier for affixing the article to a vehicle structure, the pen clip adapted to receive a portion of the vehicle structure, and the pen clip being free of any contact with the activatable material prior to or post activation of the activatable material; wherein the article is adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within the vehicle structure, and wherein at least one of the plurality of carrier extensions has a length differing from the other plurality of carrier extensions. 2. The article of claim 1 , wherein the carrier is comprised of a polymeric material and the activatable material is an expandable material. 3. The article of claim 1 , wherein the second surface of the carrier is substantially free of contact with any activatable material in a green state or post-activation. 4. The article of claim 3 , wherein the carrier is comprised of a polymeric or metallic material and the activatable material is an expandable material. 5. The article of claim 3 , wherein at least a portion of the second surface of the carrier is configured to be located in direct planar contact with a wall of the vehicle structure. 6. The article of claim 1 , wherein the pen clip includes a receiving channel. 7. The article of claim 6 , wherein the second surface of the carrier is substantially free of contact with any activatable material in a green state or post-activation. 8. The article of claim 1 , wherein the activatable material does not extend beyond an end of the carrier prior to activation. 9. The article of claim 8 , wherein the carrier is comprised of a polymeric or metallic material and the activatable material is an expandable material. 10. The article of claim 8 , wherein the second surface of the carrier is substantially free of contact with any activatable material in a green state or post-activation. 11. The article of claim 8 , wherein the pen clip includes a receiving channel. 12. The article of claim 8 , wherein at least a portion of the second surface of the carrier is configured to be located in direct planar contact with a wall of the vehicle structure. 13. The article of claim 8 , wherein the pen clip is located in a parallel plane to the linear flat substrate of the carrier. 14. The article of claim 1 , wherein the carrier is comprised of a metallic material and the activatable material is an expandable material. 15. The article of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the second surface of the carrier is configured to be located in direct planar contact with a wall of the vehicle structure. 16. The article of claim 1 , wherein the pen clip is located in a parallel plane to the linear flat substrate of the carrier. 17. A method of forming the article of claim 2 comprising co-extruding the polymeric carrier with the expandable activatable material. 18. The method of claim 17 , including activating the activatable material so that it expands and substantially fills a cavity of the vehicle structure. 19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the pen clip is extruded to be integrally formed as part of the carrier material. 20. The method of claim 17 , wherein the pen clip is extruded to be integrally formed as part of the carrier material.
