Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A power tool includes a tool-main-body part, an electric motor as a drive source, a grip part, which extends downward from the tool-main-body part and is configured to be gripped by a user, and a power-supply unit at a tip of the grip part. The power tool includes a controller configured to control the operation of the electric motor, the controller being located on the power-supply unit, and a display controlled by the controller and configured to indicate an operating state of the electric motor. The controller and the display each have a flat-plate shape and are disposed along a surface direction with respect to one another, and the display includes a first portion that overlies the controller and a second portion that projects beyond an end edge of the controller.

The invention claimed is: 1. A power tool comprising: a tool-main-body part that houses an electric motor that serves as a drive source; a grip part extending downward from the tool-main-body part and configured to be gripped by a user; a battery attaching portion located at a lower portion of the grip part and configured such that a battery pack can be attached to the battery attaching portion; a circuit board configured to determine a remaining charge level of the battery pack attached to the battery attaching portion and/or to control the operation of the electric motor; and a display configured to communicate with the circuit board and to indicate the remaining charge level of the battery pack and/or the operating state of the electric motor; wherein the circuit board and the display are located at the battery attaching portion, each has a flat-plate shape and the circuit board and the display are disposed facing each other; and at least a first portion of the display projects beyond an end edge of the circuit board when viewed from an upper side of the power tool. 2. The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein: the display includes an operation switch, a light-emitting part, and a text inscription that indicates the type of the operation switch or the light-emitting part; and the text inscription is located in the first portion of the display. 3. The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein the display and the circuit board are mounted on the battery attaching portion as separate components from one another. 4. The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein the display comprises one illumination switch and two mode-changing switches. 5. The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein: the battery attaching portion is configured to have a rechargeable-battery pack, which serves as direct-current power supply, mounted thereon; and the display comprises a light-emitting part that indicates the remaining charge level of the battery pack. 6. The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein the display comprises two light-emitting-part rows, front and rear, each row having a plurality of the light-emitting parts disposed in a left-right, transversely lined-up configuration. 7. The power tool according to claim 1 , wherein the display comprises a plurality of light-emitting parts disposed in the left-right, transversely lined-up state, the light-emitting parts respectively communicating different information to a user. 8. A power tool, comprising: an electric motor; a tool-accessory retaining part disposed on a forward side of the electric motor and configured to be driven by the electric motor; a tool-main-body part that houses the electric motor; a grip part extending downward from the tool-main-body part and configured to be gripped by a user; and an expanded part disposed at a lower portion of the grip part; a control circuit board including an LED mounted thereon and housed in the expanded part, the LED being configured to emit light; and a display including a light-conducting part and provided on an upper surface portion of the expanded part, the light-conducting part conducting light from the LED; wherein the control circuit board and the display are arranged side-by-side in an up-to-down direction of the power tool; and at least a portion of the display projects beyond an end edge of the control circuit board when viewed from an upper side of the power tool in the up-to-down direction. 9. The power tool according to claim 8 , wherein the display has a flat plate-shape. 10. A power tool comprising: a brush-less motor; a tool-main-body part that houses a rotary impact mechanism configured to be driven by the brush-less motor and to generate an impact force to be applied to a screw in a screw tightening direction; a grip part extending downward from the tool-main-body part and configured to be gripped by a user; a battery attaching portion located at a lower portion of the grip part and configured such that a battery pack can be attached to the battery attaching portion; a control circuit board located at the battery attaching portion; an LED disposed on the control circuit board; and a display having a flat-plate shape and disposed on an upper surface portion of the battery attaching portion; wherein the display includes a light-conducting part and a text part that indicates a meaning of light emitted from the light-conducting part; each of the control circuit board and the display extends in a front-to-rear direction of the power tool; the light-conducting part overlies the control circuit board as viewed from an upper side of the power tool such that light emitted from the LED passes through the light-conducting part; and at least a portion of the text part projects forwardly beyond a front edge of the control circuit board as viewed from the upper side of the battery attaching portion. 11. The power tool according to claim 10 , wherein the text part is disposed adjacent to the light-conducting part on a front-side of the battery attaching portion.
