Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems of an electrical vehicle and the operations thereof are provided. More particularly, a vehicle including a first charging port at a first location on the vehicle and a second charging port at a second location on the vehicle is provided. The first charging port of the vehicle may be different from the second charging port of the vehicle. That is, a standard associated with a receptacle of the first charging port may be different from a standard associated with a receptacle of the second charging port.

What is claimed is: 1. A vehicle, comprising: a first charging port at a first location on the vehicle and that receives charge from a first source that is external to the vehicle; a second charging port at a second location on the vehicle and that receives charge from a second source that is external to the vehicle, wherein the first charging port and the second charging port include charging receptacles of a same standard; a first charge storage device; a second charge storage device; and switching circuitry to selectively couple the first charging port to at least one of the first charge storage device and the second charge storage device, and to selectively couple the second charging port to at least one of the first charge storage device and the second charge storage device, wherein the switching circuitry comprises: a first switch including a first output coupled to the first charging port; a second switch including a second output coupled to the second charging port; a first converter coupled to the first switch; a second converter coupled to the second switch; a third switch coupled to the first converter; and a fourth switch coupled to the second converter; wherein the first charge storage device is coupled to a third output of the third switch, and wherein the second charge storage device is coupled to a fourth output of the fourth switch. 2. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the first location on the vehicle is a first outer side of the vehicle and the second location on the vehicle is a second outer side of the vehicle different from the first outer side of the vehicle. 3. The vehicle of claim 2 , wherein the first outer side of the vehicle is a driver's side of the vehicle, and wherein the second outer side is a passenger's side of the vehicle. 4. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein each of the first charging port and the second charging port include a plurality of charging receptacles, and wherein the first charge receiving port and second charge receiving port are coupled to a same set of charge storage devices in the vehicle. 5. The vehicle of claim 4 , wherein the plurality of charging receptacles of the first charging port are charging connectors of the same standard. 6. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein a charging receptacle of the first port is compliant with the J1772 standard, wherein the first source and the second source are part of a same main source with different charging cables or distinct sources. 7. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the first charge storage device is configured to receive electric charge from the first charging port when the second charge storage device is configured to receive electric charge from the second charging port. 8. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the first switch includes a fifth output coupled to the second converter, wherein the second switch includes a sixth output coupled to the first converter. 9. The vehicle of claim 8 , wherein the third switch includes a seventh output coupled to the second charge storage device, and wherein the fourth switch includes an eighth output coupled to the first charge storage device. 10. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the first location is underneath the vehicle. 11. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the first charging port includes a first wireless charging interface coupled to the first charge storage device and the second charging port includes a second wireless charging interface coupled to the second charge storage device, and wherein the first charge storage device is configured to receive electric charge from the first wireless charging interface when the second charge storage device receives electric charge from the second wireless charging interface. 12. A vehicle, comprising: a first charging port at a first location on the vehicle; a second charging port at a second location on the vehicle, wherein a location of the first charging port is different from the location of the second charging port; a first charge storage device; a second charge storage device; and switching circuitry to selectively couple the first charging port to at least one of the first charge storage device and the second charge storage device, and to selectively couple the second charging port to at least one of the first charge storage device and the second charge storage device, wherein the first charging port includes a first wireless charging interface coupled to the first charge storage device and the second charging port includes a second wireless charging interface coupled to the second charge storage device, and wherein the first charge storage device is configured to receive electric charge from the first wireless charging interface when the second charge storage device receives electric charge from the second wireless charging interface. 13. The vehicle of claim 12 , wherein the first charging port includes a charging receptacle that is of a different standard than a charging receptacle of the second charging port. 14. The vehicle of claim 12 , wherein the first location is underneath the vehicle. 15. The vehicle of claim 12 , wherein each of the first charging port and the second charging port include a plurality of charging receptacles. 16. A vehicle, comprising: a first charging port at a first location on the vehicle; a second charging port at a second location on the vehicle, wherein a location of the first charging port is different from the location of the second charging port; a first charge storage device; a second charge storage device; and switching circuitry to selectively couple the first charging port to at least one of the first charge storage device and the second charge storage device, and to selectively couple the second charging port to at least one of the first charge storage device and the second charge storage device, wherein the switching circuitry comprises: a first switch including a first output coupled to the first charging port; a second switch including a second output coupled to the second charging port; a first converter coupled to the first switch; a second converter coupled to the second switch; a third switch coupled to the first converter; and a fourth switch coupled to the second converter; wherein the first charge storage device is coupled to a third output of the third switch, and wherein the second charge storage device is coupled to a fourth output of the fourth switch. 17. The vehicle of claim 16 , wherein the first switch includes a fifth output coupled to the second converter, wherein the second switch includes a sixth output coupled to the first converter. 18. The vehicle of claim 17 , wherein the third switch includes a seventh output coupled to the second charge storage device, and wherein the fourth switch includes an eighth output coupled to the first charge storage device. 19. The vehicle of claim 16 , wherein the first charging port includes a charging receptacle that is of a different standard than a charging receptacle of the second charging port. 20. The vehicle of claim 16 , wherein each of the first charging port and the second charging port include a plurality of charging receptacles.
