Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Humidifying apparatus includes one or more motor and impeller units for generating a first air flow and a second air flow. A nozzle has a first air outlet for emitting the first air flow, with the nozzle defining an opening through which air from outside the humidifying apparatus is drawn by air emitted from the first air outlet. The second air flow is humidified and emitted from a plurality of second air outlets. A body comprising a water tank for supplying water for humidifying the second air flow is configured to releasably retain the nozzle on the apparatus.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A humidifying apparatus comprising: a body and a nozzle removably mounted on the body, the body comprising at least one air flow generating device for generating a first air flow and a second air flow, and a humidifying system for humidifying the second air flow; the nozzle comprising at least one first air outlet for emitting the first air flow and at least one second air outlet for emitting the second air flow, the nozzle defining an opening through which air from outside the humidifying apparatus is drawn by air emitted from said at least one first air outlet; wherein the body comprises a housing for a nozzle retaining mechanism moveable relative to the body for releasably retaining the nozzle on the body, the nozzle retaining mechanism comprises a detent which is moveable relative to the nozzle from a first position for retaining the nozzle on the body and a second position for allowing the nozzle to be removed from the body and the body comprises a moveable catch within the housing for moving the detent from the first position to the second position; and wherein the detent is arranged to engage a recessed portion of the outer surface of the nozzle to retain the nozzle on the body and the moveable catch pivots about an axis that is orthogonal to an axis that the detents pivot about between the first and the second position. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the nozzle comprises an inlet section which is at least partially insertable into a duct for conveying the first air flow to the nozzle, and the detent is arranged to engage the inlet section of the nozzle to retain the nozzle on the body. 3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the duct comprises an aperture through which the detent at least partially protrudes to retain the nozzle on the body. 4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the detent is pivotably moveable relative to the nozzle. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , comprising at least one biasing member for biasing the detent towards the first position. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the catch is depressible to move the detent from the first position to the second position. 7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the catch is pivotably moveable relative to the body. 8. The apparatus of claim 1 , comprising a button which is operable to move the detent to the second position. 9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the button is located on an upper surface of the body. 10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the housing comprises an aperture through which the nozzle retaining mechanism at least partially protrudes to retain the nozzle on the body. 11. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises a water tank of the humidifying system. 12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the water tank comprises a duct for conveying the second air flow to the nozzle. 13. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the nozzle comprises at least one first air inlet for receiving the first air flow, a first interior passage for conveying the first air flow to said at least one first air outlet, at least one second air inlet for receiving the second air flow, and a second interior passage for conveying the second air flow air to said at least one second air outlet. 14. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the first interior passage is isolated from the second interior passage. 15. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the first interior passage surrounds the bore of the nozzle. 16. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the second interior passage surrounds the bore of the nozzle.
