According to one embodiment, a label peeling device includes a tray, a pressing unit, and a control unit. The tray is configured to support a label sheet thereon. The pressing unit is configured to be driven in a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction of the label sheet. The control unit is configured to drive the pressing unit toward a central portion of the label sheet supported on the tray. The control unit performs peeling control to peel a liner sheet and a label body of the label sheet from each other by pressing an edge of the label sheet and thereby curving the label sheet.

What is claimed is: 1. A label peeling device, comprising: a tray configured to support a label sheet wherein the label sheet is; to be moved in a sheet conveyance direction along a conveyance path for ejection upstream of the tray, along the conveyance path; a lateral guide configured to be moved in a direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction to position the label sheet in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction while the label sheet is on the tray; and a control unit configured to control the lateral guide to align the label sheet in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction and, after aligning the label sheet, to move in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction toward a central portion of the label sheet while the label sheet is supported on the tray to peel a label body from the label sheet. 2. The label peeling device according to claim 1 , wherein the lateral guide includes a pair of alignment plates spaced from each other in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction, and the pair of alignment plates are positioned to contact lateral edges of the label sheet while the label sheet is on the tray. 3. The label peeling device according to claim 2 , wherein the control unit is configured to peel the label body from the label sheet by moving the pair of alignment plates toward each other. 4. The label peeling device according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit is configured to adjust a force applied against a lateral edge of the label sheet by the lateral guide. 5. The label peeling device according to claim 1 , further comprising: ejection rollers configured to eject the label sheet from the tray. 6. The label peeling device according to claim 1 , further comprising: a sensor to detect grasping of the label sheet by a user after ejection upstream of the tray, wherein the control unit is configured to decrease a pressing force applied to the label sheet by the lateral guide when the sensor detects the grasping of the label sheet by the user. 7. An image forming system, comprising: an image forming apparatus; and a post-processing apparatus that includes: a tray configured to support a label sheet wherein the label sheet is to be moved in a sheet conveyance direction along a conveyance path for ejection upstream of the tray, along the conveyance path; a lateral guide configured to be moved in a direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction to position the label sheet in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction while the label sheet is on the tray; and a control unit configured to control the lateral guide to align the label sheet in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction and, after aligning the label sheet, to move in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction toward a central portion of the label sheet while the label sheet is supported on the tray to peel a label body from the label sheet. 8. The image forming system according to claim 7 , wherein the lateral guide includes a pair of alignment plates spaced from each other in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction, and the pair of alignment plates are positioned to contact lateral edges of the label sheet while the label sheet is on the tray. 9. The image forming system according to claim 8 , wherein the control unit is configured to peel the label body from the label sheet by moving the pair of alignment plates toward each other. 10. The image forming system according to claim 7 , wherein the control unit is configured to adjust a force applied against a lateral edge of the label sheet by the lateral guide. 11. The image forming system according to claim 7 , further comprising: ejection rollers configured to eject the label sheet from the tray. 12. The image forming system according to claim 7 , further comprising: a sensor to detect grasping of the label sheet by a user after ejection upstream of the tray, wherein the control unit is configured to decrease a pressing force applied to the label sheet by the lateral guide when the sensor detects the grasping of the label sheet by the user. 13. A method of peeling a label body from a label sheet in a post-processing apparatus of an image forming system, comprising: conveying a label sheet to a tray of a post-processing apparatus from which the label sheet is to be moved in a sheet conveyance direction along a conveyance path of an image forming apparatus for ejection upstream of the tray; moving a lateral guide in a direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction to position the label sheet in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction while the label sheet is on the tray to align the label sheet in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction; and, after aligning the label sheet, moving the lateral guide in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction toward a central portion of the label sheet to peel a label body from the label sheet. 14. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the lateral guide includes a pair of alignment plates spaced from each other in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance direction. 15. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising: adjusting a force applied against a lateral edge of the label sheet by the lateral guide. 16. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising: ejecting the label from the tray using ejection rollers. 17. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising: detecting grasping of the label sheet by a user after ejection upstream of the tray; and decreasing a pressing force applied to the label sheet by the lateral guide when the sensor detects the grasping of the label sheet by the user.
