Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for initiating signaling in mobile management entity pools using workflows. A processor can execute an orchestrator application. The processor can receive location data that indicates a geographic location at which a virtual mobility management entity has been instantiated and registered. The processor can obtain a mobility management entity topology that defines boundaries of two or more mobile management entity pools and identify, based on the location data, one of the mobility management entity pools in which the virtual mobility management entity is located. The processor can identify pool elements included in the mobility management entity pool, obtain a workflow for establishing and configuring the pool elements, and request establishment of signaling between the virtual mobile management entity and the pool elements.

The invention claimed is: 1. A device comprising: a processor; and a memory that stores computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising determining a first geographic location of an eNodeB, wherein the eNodeB is associated with a virtual mobile management entity in a mobile management entity pool, determining, based on a location database, a second geographic location that is associated with the mobile management entity pool, determining, based on the first geographic location, if the eNodeB has moved out of the second geographic location, in response to determining that the eNodeB has moved out of the second geographic location, identifying a new mobile management entity pool that is associated with the first geographic location, and adding the eNodeB to the new mobile management entity pool associated with the first geographic location. 2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the eNodeB comprises a mobile eNodeB. 3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the mobile eNodeB comprises a drone, a vehicle, or a satellite. 4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the eNodeB was located at the second geographic location at a first time, and wherein the eNodeB was located at the first geographic location at a second time. 5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations further comprising: obtaining a workflow for establishing pool elements included in the new mobile management entity pool; and requesting, based on the workflow, establishment of signaling between the virtual mobile management entity and the pool elements. 6. The device of claim 5 , wherein requesting establishment of the signaling comprises sending, to the pool elements, configuration information used to establish the signaling. 7. A method comprising: determining, by a device comprising a processor, a first geographic location of an eNodeB, wherein the eNodeB is associated with a virtual mobile management entity in a mobile management entity pool; determining, by the processor and based on a location database, a second geographic location that is associated with the mobile management entity pool; determining, by the processor and based on the first geographic location, if the eNodeB has moved out of the second geographic location; in response to determining that the eNodeB has moved out of the second geographic location, identifying, by the processor, a new mobile management entity pool that is associated with the first geographic location; and adding, by the processor, the eNodeB to the new mobile management entity pool associated with the first geographic location. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the eNodeB comprises a mobile eNodeB. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the mobile eNodeB comprises a drone, a vehicle, or a satellite. 10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the eNodeB was located at the second geographic location at a first time, and wherein the eNodeB was located at the first geographic location at a second time. 11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising: obtaining a workflow for establishing pool elements included in the new mobile management entity pool; and requesting, based on the workflow, establishment of signaling between the virtual mobile management entity and the pool elements. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the workflow comprises a directed graph that is executed by an element management system to initiate establishment of the signaling. 13. The method of claim 11 , wherein requesting establishment of the signaling comprises sending, to the pool elements, configuration information used to establish the signaling. 14. The method of claim 7 , wherein the location database identifies mobile management entity pools and geographic locations associated with the mobile management entity pools. 15. A computer storage medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising: determining a first geographic location of an eNodeB, wherein the eNodeB is associated with a virtual mobile management entity in a mobile management entity pool; determining, based on a location database, a second geographic location that is associated with the mobile management entity pool; determining, based on the first geographic location, if the eNodeB has moved out of the second geographic location; in response to determining that the eNodeB has moved out of the second geographic location, identifying a new mobile management entity pool that is associated with the first geographic location; and adding the eNodeB to the new mobile management entity pool associated with the first geographic location. 16. The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the eNodeB comprises a mobile eNodeB. 17. The computer storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the mobile eNodeB comprises a drone, a vehicle, or a satellite. 18. The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the eNodeB was located at the second geographic location at a first time, and wherein the eNodeB was located at the first geographic location at a second time. 19. The computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations further comprising: obtaining a workflow for establishing pool elements included in the new mobile management entity pool; and requesting, based on the workflow, establishment of signaling between the virtual mobile management entity and the pool elements. 20. The computer storage medium of claim 19 , wherein requesting establishment of the signaling comprises sending, to the pool elements, configuration information used to establish the signaling.
