The present invention relates to a video signal decoding method for adding an intra prediction mode as a sub-macroblock type to prediction of a macroblock in coding a video signal. The present invention includes obtaining a macroblock type, obtaining a sub-macroblock type when a macroblock includes a plurality of coded sub-macroblocks according the macroblock type, obtaining flag information indicating a DC (discrete cosine) transform size, determining the DC transform size of the coded sub-macroblock based on the flag information, when the sub-macroblock is intra prediction coded based on the sub-macroblock type, determining a prediction size of the intra prediction coded sub-macroblock based on the determined DC transform size, obtaining prediction direction information from a block adjacent to the sub-macroblock based on the prediction size of the sub-macroblock, and obtaining a prediction value of the sub-macroblock based on the prediction direction information. Accordingly, the present invention is able to raise coding efficiency of video signal by adding an intra prediction mode as a sub-macroblock type in predicting a macroblock.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method of decoding a video signal with a decoding apparatus, the method comprising: receiving, at the decoding apparatus, a bit stream including an encoded video signal; obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, block type information of a current block of a frame included in the encoded video signal; obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, an intra prediction mode of the current block when the block type information specifies that the current block is coded in intra mode; splitting, with the decoding apparatus, the current block into a plurality of partitions based on a transform block unit for the current block, wherein the transform block unit is a rectangular block on which a transform is applied; obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, a prediction value of a first partition of the plurality of partitions of the current block based on the intra prediction mode of the current block and previously decoded pixel values adjacent to the first partition; obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, residual data of the first partition, wherein obtaining the residual data comprises: obtaining, with the decoding apparatus from the bit stream, first coded block indication information for the current block, the first coded block indication information of the current block specifying whether the current block includes coded transform coefficients in the bit stream according to a value of the first coded block indication information, when the first coded block indication information of the current block corresponds to a value of 1, obtaining, with the decoding apparatus from the bit stream, second coded block indication information for each of the plurality of partitions of the current bloc, the second coded block indication information of each of the plurality of partitions of the current block specifying whether a corresponding partition includes coded transform coefficients in the bit stream according to a value of the second coded block indication information, and when the second coded block indication information of the first partition corresponds to the value of 1, obtaining, with the decoding apparatus from the bit stream, coded transform coefficients of the first partition and inverse-transforming, with the decoding apparatus, the obtained coded transform coefficients of the first partition; and reconstructing, with the decoding apparatus, the first partition using the prediction value and the residual data. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein obtaining the residual data further comprises: when the first coded block indication information corresponds to a value other than 1, skipping, with the decoding apparatus, obtaining the second coded block indication information for each of the plurality of partitions. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the current block comprises at least one chrominance pixel. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the current block comprises at least one luminance pixel. 5. An apparatus for decoding a video signal, comprising: an entropy decoding unit configured to: receive a bit stream including an encoded video signal, obtain block type information of a current block of a frame included in the encoded video signal, obtain an intra prediction mode of the current block when the block type information specifies that the current block is coded in intra mode, split the current block into a plurality of partitions based on a transform block unit for the current block, wherein the transform block unit is a rectangular block on which a transform is applied, obtain a prediction value of a first partition of the plurality of partitions of the current block based on the intra prediction mode of the current block and previously decoded pixel values adjacent to the first partition, and obtain residual data of the first partition; and an inverse transform unit configured to reconstruct the first partition using the prediction value and the residual data, wherein obtaining the residual data includes: obtaining, from the bit stream, first coded block indication information for the current block, the first coded block indication information of the current block specifying whether the current block includes coded transform coefficients in the bit stream according to a value of the first coded block indication information, when the first coded block indication information of the current block corresponds to a value of 1, obtaining, from the bit stream, second coded block indication information for each of the plurality of partitions of the current block, the second coded block indication information of each of the plurality of partitions of the current block of specifying whether a corresponding partition includes coded transform coefficients in the bit stream according to a value of the second coded block indication information, and when the second coded block indication information of the first partition corresponds to the value of 1, obtaining, from the bit stream, transform coefficients of the first partition. 6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein obtaining the residual data further comprises: when the first coded block indication information corresponds to a value other than 1, skipping, with the decoding apparatus, obtaining the second coded block indication information for each of the plurality of partitions. 7. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the current block comprises at least one chrominance pixel. 8. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the current block comprises at least one luminance pixel.
