Provided is a motor controller including: a rotation control unit configured to control a rotation of a motor; a brake control unit configured to control an operation of a brake for holding a rotor with respect to a stator of the motor; a rotation-state detection unit configured to detect a rotation state of the motor; a timer configured to measure, in a released state where an operation of the brake is released by the brake control unit, a time from an outputting of a command to change over a state of the brake to a locked state to a detection of a predetermined change in a rotation state of the motor by the rotation-state detection unit; and a determination unit configured to determine that a brake operation delay abnormality is present when the time, measured by the timer, is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold.

The invention claimed is: 1. A motor controller comprising: a timer; a rotation control unit configured to control a rotation of a motor and receive feedback of a rotation state of the motor; an inspection control unit configured to output a command to control an operation of a brake for holding a rotor with respect to a stator of the motor; and a determination unit configured to determine whether or not a brake operation delay abnormality is present, wherein the inspection control unit causes the timer to measure, in a released state where an operation of the brake is released, a time from outputting the command to change over a state of the brake to a locked state to receiving, by the rotation control unit, the feedback indicating a predetermined change in the rotation state of the motor, and the determination unit determines that the brake operation delay abnormality is present when the time, measured by the timer, is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold. 2. The motor controller according to claim 1 , wherein the rotation control unit controls a rotational speed of the motor and receives feedback of the rotation speed of the motor, and the inspection control unit causes the timer to measure a time required for reducing the rotational speed indicated in the feedback received by the rotation control unit to a predetermined rotational speed. 3. The motor controller according to claim 2 , wherein the inspection control unit causes the timer to measure a time required for reducing the rotational speed indicated in the feedback received by the rotation control unit by half.
