Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods for sharing of video footage from audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices to smart television (TV) devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, a method for playing back video footage captured by A/V recording and communication devices located in a plurality of neighborhoods, using a smart TV, is provided, the method comprising: connecting the smart TV to a neighborhood subscriber channel; subscribing to a first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel, wherein the first channel is associated with a first neighborhood of the plurality of neighborhoods; receiving a list of available content shared with the first neighborhood, wherein the available content shared with the first neighborhood includes first image data captured using a camera of a first A/V recording and communication device; and selecting and playing back, on the smart TV, the first image data.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A method for playing back video footage captured by audio/video recording and communication devices (A/V devices) located in a plurality of neighborhoods, using a smart television (TV), the method comprising: connecting the smart TV to a neighborhood subscriber channel; subscribing to a first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel, wherein the first channel is associated with a first neighborhood of the plurality of neighborhoods; receiving a list of available content shared with the first neighborhood, wherein the available content shared with the first neighborhood includes first image data captured using a camera of a first A/V device and wherein the available content shared with the first neighborhood also includes second image data captured using a camera of a second A/V device located in the first neighborhood of the plurality of neighborhoods; and selecting and playing back, on the smart TV, the first image data captured using the camera of the first A/V device. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of neighborhoods is a subset of users of a network of users corresponding to a geographical location. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first A/V device is located in the first neighborhood of the plurality of neighborhoods. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the list of available content shared with the first neighborhood includes first image data shared using a share signal by a first client device associated with the first A/V device, wherein the share signal includes a command to share the first image data with a network of users. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the command to share the first image data with the network of users includes a command to share the first image data only with one neighborhood of the plurality of neighborhoods. 6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the command to share the first image data with the network of users includes a command to share the first image data with the plurality of neighborhoods. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein connecting the smart TV to the neighborhood subscriber channel includes connecting a streaming media player to the smart TV. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising registering for a user account. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein subscribing to the first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel comprises: receiving a request for an account ID from a server; transmitting account data to the server; receiving an access code from the server; and entering the access code via the smart TV, wherein the access code subscribes the smart TV to the first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel. 10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising receiving a confirmation of subscription to the first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting and playing back the first image data captured using the camera of the first A/V device comprises: receiving a user's input selection from the list of available content shared with the first neighborhood; transmitting a content selection signal to the server; receiving a content playback signal, at the smart TV, from the server, wherein the content playback signal includes the first image data; and playing back the first image data using the smart TV. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the content playback signal includes first audio data captured using a microphone of the first A/V device and selecting and playing back the first image data captured using the first A/V device further comprises playing back the first audio data using the smart TV. 13. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a notification for a connection request with the first A/V device at the smart TV. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the notification for the connection request with the first A/V device is triggered when motion is detected at the first A/V device. 15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the notification for the connection request with the first A/V device is triggered when a button of the first A/V device is pressed. 16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the notification for the connection request with the first A/V device is triggered when a security event is detected by the first A/V device. 17. The method of claim 13 , wherein the notification for the connection request includes providing a picture-in-picture streaming, at the smart TV, of the first image data with an option to go full screen. 18. The method of claim 13 , wherein the smart TV may be configured into an alarm mode setting to turn on upon receiving the notification for the connection request. 19. The method of claim 13 , further comprising transmitting a command signal, in response to the notification for a connection request with the first A/V device, wherein the command signal connects the smart TV with the first A/V device. 20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the smart TV configures the first A/V device using the command signal. 21. A method for playing back video footage captured by audio/video recording and communication devices (A/V devices) located in a plurality of neighborhoods, using a smart television (TV), the method comprising: connecting the smart TV to a neighborhood subscriber channel; subscribing to a first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel, wherein the first channel is associated with a first neighborhood of the plurality of neighborhoods and wherein subscribing to the first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel comprises receiving an access code from a server and entering the access code via the smart TV, wherein the access code subscribes the smart TV to the first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel; receiving a list of available content shared with the first neighborhood, wherein the available content shared with the first neighborhood includes first image data captured using a camera of a first A/V device; and selecting and playing back, on the smart TV, the first image data captured using the camera of the first A/V device. 22. The method of claim 21 , wherein connecting the smart TV to the neighborhood subscriber channel includes connecting a streaming media player to the smart TV. 23. The method of claim 21 , further comprising registering for a user account. 24. The method of claim 21 , wherein subscribing to the first channel of the neighborhood subscriber channel further comprises: receiving a request for an account ID from a server; and transmitting account data to the server.
