A lighter holder for a cigarette or cigar package, comprising a substantially rectangular member foldable into the lighter holder, the rectangular member having a length and a width and five discrete panels defined in the length direction by foldable score lines in the width direction, the second and fourth panels being internally foldable and having apertures at corresponding locations in the width directions thereof.

I claim: 1. A cigarette or cigar package comprising: a container; and a discrete compartment positioned inside the container, between the container and a film wrapped thereon, or outside the film, the compartment including a substantially rectangular sheet subdivided into a first panel, a second panel, a third panel, a fourth panel, and a fifth panel separated by score lines and having a first lower ledge positioned between the first panel and the third panel and separated from the second panel and a second lower ledge positioned between the third panel and the fifth panel and separated from the fourth panel, the substantially rectangular sheet being folded into a flat insertion configuration including a rectangular portion defined by the third panel, the first panel, and the fifth panel, a first pair of wings extending from the rectangular portion, the first pair of wings including the second panel and the fourth panel folded outwards, and a second pair of wings extending from the rectangular portion, the second pair of wings including the first lower ledge and the second lower ledge folded outwards. 2. The package of claim 1 , wherein the first panel has an adhesive on one surface thereof and the fifth panel has an adhesive disposed on a surface opposite the first panel. 3. The package of claim 1 , wherein the flat insertion configuration is capable of opening into an expanded configuration, the expanded configuration including, a pair of side walls defined by the second panel and the fourth panel folded outward, and a support defined by the first lower ledge and the second lower ledge folded inward for supporting a lighter. 4. The package of claim 1 , wherein the first through fifth panels are of approximately equal width. 5. The package of claim 1 , wherein the first lower ledge is separated from the second panel by a first aperture and the second lower ledge is separated from the fourth panel by a second aperture. 6. The package of claim 5 , wherein the first aperture and the second aperture are each pentagonal. 7. The package of claim 1 , wherein the sheet includes paperboard. 8. The package of claim 1 , wherein the sheet includes plastic. 9. The package of claim 2 , wherein the adhesive of the fifth panel is disposed on the surface opposite the first panel includes a strip of adhesive. 10. The package of claim 9 , wherein the strip of adhesive is a two-sided adhesive tape. 11. A cigarette or cigar package comprising: a container, and a discrete compartment positioned inside the container, between the container and a film wrapped thereon, or outside the film, the compartment including a substantially rectangular sheet subdivided into a first panel, a second panel, a third panel, and a fourth panel separated by score lines and having a first lower ledge positioned between the first panel and the third panel and separated from the second panel, and a second lower ledge positioned next to the third panel and separated from the fourth panel, the substantially rectangular sheet being folded into a flat insertion configuration including a rectangular portion defined by the third panel and the first panel, a first pair of wings extending from the rectangular portion, the first pair of wings including the second panel and the fourth panel folded outwards, and a second pair of wings extending from the rectangular portion, the second pair of wings including the first lower ledge and the second lower ledge folded outwards. 12. The package of claim 11 , wherein the substantially rectangular sheet further includes a fifth panel separated by a score line from the fourth panel, wherein the second lower ledge is positioned between the third panel and the fifth panel, and wherein the rectangular portion is further defined by the fifth panel. 13. The package of claim 12 , wherein the first panel has an adhesive on one surface thereof and the fifth panel has an adhesive disposed on a surface opposite the first panel. 14. The package of claim 13 , wherein the adhesive of the fifth panel disposed on the surface opposite the first panel includes a strip of adhesive. 15. The package of claim 14 , wherein the strip of adhesive is a two-sided adhesive tape. 16. The package of claim 11 , wherein the flat insertion configuration is capable of opening into an expanded configuration, the expanded configuration including, a pair of side walls defined by the second panel and the fourth panel folded outward, and a support defined by the first lower ledge and the second lower ledge folded inward for supporting a lighter. 17. The package of claim 11 , wherein the first through fourth panels are of approximately equal width. 18. The package of claim 11 , wherein the first lower ledge is separated from the second panel by a first aperture and the second lower ledge is separated from the fourth panel by a second aperture. 19. The package of claim 18 , wherein the first aperture and the second aperture are each pentagonal. 20. The package of claim 11 , wherein the sheet includes paperboard. 21. The package of claim 11 , wherein the sheet includes plastic.
