Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A physical playing card gaming system includes a gaming table including at least one dealer position and at least one player position. The system includes a physical playing card handling device that is configured to read at least one of a card rank and card suit of physical playing cards. The system also includes at least one processor in communication with the physical playing card handling device and a video monitor. The at least one processor is programmed to determine the composition of at least one dealer hand and at least one player hand based on the at least one of card rank and card suit read. The at least one processor is programmed to cause game information based on the determined hands to be displayed in response to dealer input. Methods of operating such a physical playing card gaming system include displaying the game information upon dealer request.

What is claimed is: 1. A physical playing card gaming system, comprising: a gaming table including at least one player position; a physical playing card reading system configured to read at least one of card rank or card suit of physical playing cards to be delivered to the at least one player position; at least one display associated with the gaming table; and at least one processor in communication with the physical playing card reading system and the at least one display, the at least one processor programmed to determine composition of at least one player hand based on the at least one of card rank or card suit read by the physical playing card reading system and programmed to initiate at least one player instruction based on the at least one determined hand composition to be displayed on the at least one display. 2. The system of claim 1 , further comprising at least one of a card shuffler or a card dispensing shoe comprising the physical playing card reading system. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one display comprises at least one individual player display viewable to only one player, and further comprising a common display positioned to be viewable by a dealer and players at the gaming table. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the at least one individual player display comprises a user input for requesting the at least one player instruction from the at least one processor to be displayed on the at least one individual player display. 5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the user input comprises a touch screen, and the at least one processor is programmed to cause the at least one individual player display to display the at least one player instruction upon selection of a prompt displayed on the touch screen. 6. The system of claim 3 , wherein the at least one processor is programmed with game rules for determining arrangement of the at least one player hand according to a house way, and the at least one processor is programmed to cause the at least one player instruction to be displayed on the at least one individual player display based on the game rules and based on the at least one determined hand composition. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one player instruction based on the at least one determined hand composition to be displayed on the at least one display comprises an electronic wagering instruction. 8. A system for enabling play of a casino table card game using physical playing cards, comprising: a physical playing card reading system configured to read card information including at least one of rank or suit of randomized playing cards; at least one processor in communication with the physical playing card reading system, the at least one processor programmed to determine composition of at least one individual set of the randomized playing cards based on the at least one of rank or suit read by the physical playing card reading system and programmed to provide game instructions based on the determined composition; and at least one display in communication with the at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is programmed to cause the at least one display to display the game instructions. 9. The system of claim 8 , further comprising a gaming table having a gaming surface including at least one player position for receipt of the randomized playing cards, wherein the physical playing card reading system is located at the gaming table. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the at least one display comprises at least one individual player display viewable to only one respective player, and further comprising a common display positioned to be viewable by a dealer and at least one player at the gaming table. 11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the at least one individual player display is flush mounted into the gaming surface of the gaming table. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the game instructions provided by the at least one processor comprise at least one player instruction based on predetermined house way rules. 13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is programmed to cause the at least one display to display the at least one player instruction on how to set hands from the at least one individual set of the randomized playing cards based on the determined composition. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor comprises a processor internal to a card shuffler comprising the physical playing card reading system and another processor external to the card shuffler. 15. A method of administering a casino table card game using physical playing cards, comprising: reading at least one of rank or suit of randomized playing cards using a physical playing card reading system; determining, with at least one processor in communication with the physical playing card reading system, a composition of at least one individual set of the randomized playing cards based on the at least one of rank or suit read by the physical playing card reading system; generating game instructions with the at least one processor based on the determined composition of the at least one individual set of the randomized playing cards; and displaying the game instructions on at least one display in communication with the at least one processor. 16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising randomizing at least a portion of the physical playing cards with a card-handling device comprising the physical playing card reading system. 17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising providing the randomized physical playing cards to the physical playing card reading system at a gaming table. 18. The method of claim 15 , wherein generating the game instructions with the at least one processor comprises determining a house way of setting the at least one individual set of the randomized playing cards according to predetermined house way rules. 19. The method of claim 15 , wherein displaying the game instructions comprises automatically displaying the game instructions on a common display for arrangement of game hands after determination of the composition of the at least one individual set of the randomized playing cards.
