Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Certain types of fiber termination enclosures include an enclosure and at least one of a plurality of plate module mounting assemblies. Example plate module mounting assemblies include a termination panel plate assembly; a splice tray plate assembly; a cable spool plate assembly; and a drop-in plate assembly. Example cable spool plate assemblies include a cable spool arrangement rotationally coupled to a mounting plate, which fixedly mounts within the enclosure housing. A stand-off mount element may be disposed on the front of the cable spool arrangement to rotate in unison with the cable spool arrangement. The stand-off mount element may include one or more termination adapters.

The invention claimed is: 1. An enclosure comprising: a housing including a rear wall, a top, a bottom, a first side, and a second side that cooperate to define an interior accessible through an open front, the interior having a height, a width, and a depth, the housing defining an input port providing access to the interior separate from the open front; a removable cover disposed within the interior of the housing, the cover including a front plate and a side plate, the front plate extending parallel with the open front, the side plate extending along the depth of the interior to separate the interior into a first region and a second region, the first region extending between the first side of the housing and the side plate, the second region extending between the side plate and the second side of the housing, wherein bend radius limiters are disposed in the second region, the front plate extending from the first side of the housing to the side plate to cover the first region so that the cover blocks hand access to the first region from the open front while the second region is accessible from the open front; and a modular plate assembly disposed within the interior, the modular plate assembly including a mounting plate configured to mount to the rear wall of the housing, the modular plate assembly also including a telecommunications component coupled to the mounting plate, wherein at least a portion of the telecommunications component is disposed in the first region. 2. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the telecommunications component is fully disposed within the first region. 3. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the modular plate assembly includes a mounting panel carrying optical adapters, each optical adapter having a first port and a second port. 4. The enclosure of claim 3 , wherein the first port of each optical adapter faces the first region and the second port of each optical adapter faces the second region. 5. The enclosure of claim 3 , wherein the first port of each optical adapter faces the top of the housing and the second port of each optical adapter faces the bottom of the housing. 6. The enclosure of claim 3 , wherein the mounting panel extends parallel with the side plate of the cover. 7. The enclosure of claim 3 , wherein the mounting panel extends orthogonal with the side plate of the cover. 8. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the modular plate assembly includes a splice tray disposed in the first region. 9. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the modular plate assembly includes a cable management spool disposed in the first region. 10. The enclosure of claim 1 , further comprising a door mounted to the housing to selectively cover the open front. 11. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the cover extends along a majority of the height of the interior. 12. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein a portion of the mounting plate extends past the side plate from the first region to the second region. 13. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the modular plate assembly is a first modular plate assembly; and wherein the enclosure further comprises a second modular plate assembly mounted to the rear wall of the housing at the second region. 14. The enclosure of claim 13 , wherein the second modular plate assembly includes bend radius limiters. 15. The enclosure of claim 13 , wherein the second modular plate assembly includes a plurality of optical adapters. 16. The enclosure of claim 15 , wherein the optical adapters includes sliding adapter packs. 17. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the front plate of the cover defines finger holes. 18. The enclosure of claim 1 , further comprising a lock arrangement configured to releasably secure the cover in place. 19. The enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the side plate of the cover defines a routing channel through which optical fibers can be routed between the first and second regions. 20. An enclosure comprising: a housing including a rear wall, a top, a bottom, a first side, and a second side that cooperate to define an interior accessible through an open front, the interior having a height, a width, and a depth, the housing defining an input port providing access to the interior separate from the open front; a removable cover disposed within the interior of the housing, the cover including a front plate and a side plate, the front plate extending parallel with the open front, the side plate extending along the depth of the housing to separate the interior into a first region and a second region, the first region extending between the first side of the housing and the side plate, the second region extending between the side plate and the second side of the housing, the front plate extending from the first side of the housing to the side plate to cover the first region so that the cover blocks hand access to the first region from the open front while the second region is accessible from the open front; and a modular plate assembly disposed within the interior, the modular plate assembly including a mounting plate configured to mount to the rear wall of the housing, the modular plate assembly also including a telecommunications component coupled to the mounting plate, wherein at least a portion of the telecommunications component is disposed in the first region, the modular plate assembly including a mounting panel carrying optical adapters, each optical adapter having a first port and a second port. 21. The enclosure of claim 20 , wherein the first port of each optical adapter faces the first region and the second port of each optical adapter faces the second region. 22. The enclosure of claim 20 , wherein the first port of each optical adapter faces the top of the housing and the second port of each optical adapter faces the bottom of the housing. 23. The enclosure of claim 20 , wherein the mounting panel extends parallel with the side plate of the cover. 24. The enclosure of claim 20 , wherein the mounting panel extends orthogonal with the side plate of the cover. 25. An enclosure comprising: a housing including a rear wall, a top, a bottom, a first side, and a second side that cooperate to define an interior accessible through an open front, the interior having a height, a width, and a depth, the housing defining an input port providing access to the interior separate from the open front; a removable cover disposed within the interior of the housing, the cover including a front plate and a side plate, the front plate extending parallel with the open front, the side plate extending along the depth of the housing to separate the interior into a first region and a second region, the first region extending between the first side of the housing and the side plate, the second region extending between the side plate and the second side of the housing, the front plate extending from the first side of the housing to the side plate to cover the first region so that the cover blocks hand access to the first region from the open front while the second region is accessible from the open front; and a modular plate assembly disposed within the interior, the modular plate assembly including a mounting plate configured to mount to the rear wall of the housing, the modular plate assembly also including a telecommunications component coupled to the mounting plate, wherein at least a portion of the telecommunications component is disposed in the first region, wherein the modular plate assemb
