A triplex greensmower lift system includes a yoke mount attached to a reel cutting unit forwardly and below a center of gravity of the reel cutting unit, an upper lift arm attached to the yoke mount and extending rearwardly behind the reel cutting unit to a horizontal pivot axis on a lower lift arm located at a height between a top of the reel cutting unit and the center of gravity of the reel cutting unit, and a spring connected to the upper lift arm and biasing the upper lift arm upwardly and rearwardly to reduce ground pressure on the reel cutting unit.

The invention claimed is: 1. A triplex greensmower lift system, comprising: a lower lift arm pivotably mounted on a first horizontal axis to a frame member of a triplex greensmower; an upper lift arm pivotably mounted to the lower lift arm on a second horizontal axis that is perpendicular to the first horizontal axis; a yoke mount connected to the upper lift arm on a vertical pivot axis, and having a pair of yoke arms connected to a reel cutting unit; a lifter support pivotably mounted to the lower lift arm on a third horizontal axis that is parallel to the first horizontal axis, and also connected to the reel cutting unit; and a lift cylinder extending between the frame member and the lifter support that is retractable to pivot up the lifter support to hold the reel cutting unit approximately level as the reel cutting unit is raised from a mowing position to a transport position. 2. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 1 further comprising a pair of flexible linkages between the lifter support and the reel cutting unit. 3. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 1 further comprising a tension spring between the upper lift arm and the frame member. 4. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 1 wherein the second horizontal axis is a roll axis between a top of the reel cutting unit and a center of gravity of the reel cutting unit. 5. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 1 wherein the pair of yoke arms are pivotably connected to the reel cutting unit on a fourth horizontal axis that is parallel to the first horizontal axis and the third horizontal axis. 6. A triplex greensmower lift system, comprising: a yoke mount attached to a reel cutting unit forwardly and below a center of gravity of the reel cutting unit; an upper lift arm attached to the yoke mount and extending rearwardly behind the reel cutting unit to a horizontal pivot axis on a lower lift arm located at a height between a top of the reel cutting unit and the center of gravity of the reel cutting unit; and a spring connected to the upper lift arm and biasing the upper lift arm upwardly and rearwardly to reduce ground pressure on the reel cutting unit. 7. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 6 further comprising a pair of flexible linkages connected between a U-shaped lifter support and the reel cutting unit rearwardly of the center of gravity of the reel cutting unit. 8. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 7 further comprising a lift cylinder connected to the U-shaped lifter support. 9. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 6 wherein the horizontal pivot axis is parallel to the direction of travel of the reel cutting unit. 10. A triplex greensmower lift system, comprising: a lower lift arm mounted to a frame member of a triplex greensmower and pivoting on a pitch axis located rearwardly from a reel cutting unit; an upper lift arm mounted to the lower lift arm behind the reel cutting unit and pivoting on a roll axis located rearwardly from the reel cutting unit; and a yoke mount mounted to the upper lift arm and to a front of the reel cutting unit and pivoting on a yaw axis located adjacent the front of the reel cutting unit. 11. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 10 wherein the yoke mount mounted to the upper lift arm and to the front of the reel cutting unit also includes a pair of yoke arms pivotably connected to the reel cutting unit on a pitch axis located adjacent the front of the reel cutting unit. 12. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 10 further comprising a lifter support pivotably mounted to the lower lift arm behind the reel cutting unit and a pair of flexible linkages connecting between the lifter support and the reel cutting unit that hold the reel cutting unit approximately level when the reel cutting unit is off the ground. 13. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 12 further comprising a lift cylinder between the lifter support and the frame member of the triplex greensmower. 14. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 10 further comprising a tension spring between the upper lift arm and the frame member of the triplex greensmower behind the reel cutting unit. 15. The triplex greensmower lift system of claim 14 wherein the tension spring is connected at a location offset to a side of the upper lift arm.
