What is claimed is: 1. A method of distributing content from a content provider through a communications network, the method comprising: the communications network receiving content from the content provider for display on communications devices; the communications network collecting data about a user, said user being associated with a specified communications device; the communications network customizing for display on the specified communication device for said user a portion of the content from the content provider based on the collected data about the user; and the communications network sending the content, including the portion customized for display on the specified communication device for the user, to the specified communications device for display thereon; and wherein: the communications network sending the content includes: the communications network receiving a pull request from the specified communications device for location-relevant information; and the communications network sending the location-relevant information to the specified communications device. 2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein: the communications network collecting data includes the communications network generating a profile of the user; and the communications network customizing a portion of the content includes the communications network using said profile of the user to customize the portion of the content. 3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein: the communications network collecting data includes identifying a current location of the user; and the communications network customizing a portion of the content includes the communications network customizing said portion of the content based on said current location of the user. 4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the communications network collecting data about the user includes the communications network making some part of the collected data available to the content provider, and preventing the content provider from having access to another part of the collected data. 5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the communications network sending the content further includes: the communications network receiving a push request from the content provider to send location-relevant content to the specified communications device. 6. A method of distributing content from a communications network, the method comprising: the communications network receiving content from a content provider; the communications network collecting data about a user, said user being associated with a specified communications device; the communications network customizing a portion of the content based on the collected data about the user; and the communications network sending the content, including the customized portion, to the specified communications device; and wherein: the communications network collecting data includes storing the data on a specified server system; and the communications network receiving content includes the communications network giving the content provider with write access to said data stored on the specified server system, and preventing the content provider from having read access to said data stored on the specified server system. 7. A method of distributing content from a content provider through a communications network, the method comprising: the communications network receiving content from the content provider for display on communications devices; the communications network collecting data about a user, said user being associated with a specified communications device; the communications network customizing for a portion of the content from the content provider based on the collected data about the user; and the communications network sending the content, including the portion customized for the user, to the specified communications device for display thereon; and wherein: the communications network collecting data about the user includes the communications network analyzing network control traffic to determine a location of the user; the communications network receiving content from the content provider includes the communications network storing, in a server controlled by the communications network, said portion of the content; and the communications network customizing for said user a portion of the content from the content provider includes the communications network, at said server, customizing for the user said portion of the content from the content provider based on the determined location of the user.
