Vaso-occlusive apparatuses, including implants, and methods of using them to treat aneurysms. For example, described herein are expandable vaso-occlusive implants that include one or more soft and expandable braided member coupled to a pushable member such as a coil that maybe inserted and retrieved from within an aneurism using a delivery catheter. In particular, the expandable implants described herein are configured to allow relatively soft and elongate implants to be pushed out of a cannula without binding up within the cannula.

What is claimed is: 1. A vaso-occlusion system for occluding an aneurysm, the system comprising: a delivery catheter extending from a proximal end to a distal end; and a vaso-occlusive device within the delivery catheter, wherein the vaso-occlusive device is adapted to be pushed out of, and retrieved back into, the distal end of the delivery catheter, the vaso-occlusive device comprising a soft braided tubular member having a longitudinal axis, wherein the braided tubular member is formed of about 24 to 36 strands comprising one or more Nitinol wires, each strand having a diameter that is 0.0010 inches or less, wherein the braided tubular member has a length that is greater than 5 cm, forms a braid angle between crossing strands in a direction of the longitudinal axis of about 35 degrees or less when the braided tubular member is held in a collapsed configuration within the delivery catheter, wherein the braided tubular member expands from the collapsed configuration to a flat oval deployed configuration when released from the delivery catheter, and wherein the braided tubular member has a diameter between 0.75 mm and 3.0 mm when in the deployed configuration. 2. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein the strands comprise a monofilament wire having a diameter that is less than about 0.0008 inches. 3. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , the strands having a diameter that is between about 0.0004 and 0.00075 inches. 4. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein the braided tubular member comprises a braid angle between crossing strands of 30 degrees or less when held in the collapsed configuration within the delivery catheter. 5. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein the braided tubular member forms an expanded braid angle between crossing strands along the longitudinal axis of between about 35-90 degrees when in the deployed configuration. 6. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein the braided tubular member forms an expanded braid angle between crossing strands along thelongitudinal axis of less than about 50 degrees when in the deployed configuration. 7. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein the braided tubular member has a pore size formed between strands of less than about 0.1 square mm when in the deployed configuration. 8. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein an elongate length of the vaso-occlusive device has a pre-set curve or shape when the braided tubular member is in the deployed configuration. 9. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , the vaso-occlusive device further comprising an elongate inner member that at least partially extends through a lumen of the braided tubular member, wherein a proximal end of the braided tubular member is bound to the inner member by a polymeric junction or a metallic weld. 10. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 9 , wherein a distal end of the braided tubular member is not attached to the elongate inner member. 11. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 10 , further comprising a friction element disposed on the elongate inner member, wherein the friction element is configured to contact both the elongate inner member and the braided tubular member when the vaso-occlusion device is held in the collapsed configuration within the delivery catheter. 12. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 10 , wherein the elongate inner member comprises a closed pitch coil. 13. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 1 , wherein the vaso-occlusive device further comprises an elongate inner member that at least partially extends through a lumen of the braided tubular member, wherein a proximal end of the braided tubular member is attached to the inner member but a distal end of the braided tubular member is not attached to the elongate inner member. 14. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 13 , further comprising a friction element disposed on the elongate inner member, wherein the friction element contacts both the elongate inner member and the braided tubular member when the vaso-occlusion device is held in the collapsed configuration within the delivery catheter. 15. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 13 , wherein the elongate inner member comprises a coil. 16. A vaso-occlusion system for occluding an aneurysm, the system comprising: a delivery catheter; and a vaso-occlusive device adapted to be pushed out of, and retrieved back into, a distal end opening of the delivery catheter, the vaso-occlusive device comprising a braided tubular member having a longitudinal axis, wherein the braided tubular member is formed of about 24 to 36 strands, each strand having a thickness that is 0.0010 inches or less, wherein braid angles formed between crossing strands of the braided tubular member in a direction of the longitudinal axis are about 35 degrees or less when the braided tubular member is held in a collapsed configuration within the delivery catheter, wherein the braided tubular member has a flat oval deployed configuration when released from the delivery catheter, and wherein the braided tubular member has a diameter between 0.75 mm and 3.0 mm when in the deployed configuration. 17. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 16 , wherein the strands comprise Nitinol wire having a thickness between about 0.0004 inches and about 0.00075 inches. 18. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 16 , wherein braid angles formed between crossing strands of the braided tubular member in the direction of the longitudinal axis are about 35 to 90 degrees when the braided tubular member is in the deployed configuration. 19. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 18 , wherein braid angles formed between crossing strands of the braided tubular member in the direction of the longitudinal axis are less than about 50 degrees when the braided tubular member is in the deployed configuration. 20. The vaso-occlusion system of claim 16 , wherein a pore size formed between strands of the braided tubular member are less than about 0.1 square mm when the braided tubular member is in the deployed configuration.
