Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present invention aims to provide a rubber composition for tires that can improve processability, crack resistance, ozone resistance, discoloration resistance, and tire appearance while maintaining a good balance between them, and also to provide a pneumatic tire formed from the rubber composition. The present invention relates to a rubber composition for tires, containing: a rubber component; an antioxidant; and polyether, the rubber component having a combined content of polybutadiene rubber, natural rubber, and polyisoprene rubber of 80% by mass or more per 100% by mass of the rubber component, the rubber composition containing the antioxidant in an amount of 0.3 to 7.0 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, the polyether having an average mass content of at least two consecutive polyethylene oxide units of 85% or less of the polyethylene oxide mass content of the polyether.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A rubber composition for tires, comprising: a rubber component; an antioxidant; and a polyether, wherein the rubber component has a combined content of polybutadiene rubber, natural rubber, and polyisoprene rubber of 80% by mass or more per 100% by mass of the rubber component, the antioxidant is present in an amount of 0.3 to 7.0 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, the polyether has an average mass content of at least two consecutive polyethylene oxide units of 85% or less of the polyether polyethylene oxide mass content, the polyether is represented by R 1 —O—(R 2 —O) n —R 3 or R 4 —{(O—R 2 —O) n —R 1 } m , wherein R 1 and R 3 each represent a hydrogen atom or a C1-C20 aliphatic hydrocarbon, alicyclic hydrocarbon, aromatic hydrocarbon, or alkanoyl group in which a hydrogen atom bound to a carbon atom may be replaced with an aromatic hydrocarbon group; each R 2 is the same as or different from each other and represents a C2-C10 divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon or divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group in which a hydrogen atom bound to a carbon atom may be replaced with an aromatic hydrocarbon group; R 4 represents a residue that is compound (a) having three or more hydroxyl groups from which the hydroxyl groups are removed; and n and m represent integers which are not limited as long as the content of consecutive polyethylene oxide units falls within the range indicated above. 2. The rubber composition for tires according to claim 1 , wherein the rubber composition comprises the polyether in an amount of 0.1 to 8.0 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component. 3. The rubber composition for tires according to claim 2 , wherein the polyether has a number average molecular weight of 1,500 to 50,000. 4. The rubber composition for tires according to claim 2 , wherein the rubber composition comprises 1 to 70 parts by mass of carbon black. 5. The rubber composition for tires according to claim 1 , wherein the polyether has a number average molecular weight of 1,500 to 50,000. 6. The rubber composition for tires according to claim 5 , wherein the rubber composition comprises 1 to 70 parts by mass of carbon black. 7. The rubber composition for tires according to claim 1 , wherein the rubber composition comprises 1 to 70 parts by mass of carbon black. 8. A pneumatic tire, comprising a tire component formed from the rubber composition according to claim 1 . 9. The pneumatic tire according to claim 8 , wherein the tire component is at least one of a sidewall, clinch, or wing. 10. A pneumatic tire, comprising a tire component formed from the rubber composition according to claim 2 . 11. A pneumatic tire, comprising a tire component formed from the rubber composition according to claim 5 . 12. A pneumatic tire, comprising a tire component formed from the rubber composition according to claim 7 .
