The invention claimed is: 1. A chimeric gene comprising the following operably-linked nucleic acid sequences: one or more control sequences able to drive expression of a nucleic acid sequence in a plant cell; and a nucleic acid sequence encoding a BHLH protein of subfamily IVa comprising a bHLH domain wherein the nucleic acid sequence is SEQ ID NO: 15. 2. A transgenic plant comprising: the chimeric gene of claim 1 . 3. A plant cell comprising: the chimeric gene of claim 1 . 4. A vector comprising the chimeric gene of claim 1 . 5. The chimeric gene of claim 1 , further comprising: a transcript termination nucleic acid sequence operably-linked thereto.
