What is claimed is: 1. A cartridge assembly for an adjustable fluid flow control device comprising: a rotor assembly comprising a base with a central aperture, a magnet mounted in the base and a protrusion extending from a lower surface of the base; a cartridge housing comprising a central rotor pivot configured to engage the central aperture, a stair step array, a plurality of stops wherein two stops of the plurality of stops are configured to receive the protrusion therebetween to limit rotation of the rotor assembly about the central rotor pivot; wherein each stop has an upper surface and the upper surface of each stop lies in the same plane. 2. The cartridge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is polarized in a horizontal direction and the protrusion is located at a radial location along the base which is substantially perpendicular to the magnet polarization. 3. The cartridge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the protrusion comprises a stem portion and a head portion, wherein the stem portion comprises stem edges and wherein the plurality of stops comprise stop edges configured to provide line to line contact with the stem edges when the protrusion is located between two stops. 4. The cartridge assembly of claim 1 , wherein a lower surface of the protrusion is configured to rest on a step of the stair-step array. 5. The cartridge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the rotor assembly is configured to magnetically couple to an adjustment tool whereby the rotor assembly is configured to lift upwardly with respect to the stair-step array and the plurality of stops upon magnetically coupling with the adjustment tool. 6. The cartridge assembly of claim 5 , wherein the rotor assembly is configured to rotate about the central rotor pivot when the rotor assembly is lifted such that the lower surface of the protrusion is positioned above an upper surface of the plurality of stops. 7. The cartridge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of stops comprise a total of five stops including the two stops configured to receive the protrusion, the first stops projecting radially inwardly from an inner cartridge housing wall and spaced such that a single step of each of five steps of the stair-step array is provided between two successive stops, and wherein each of the five stops is configured to receive the protrusion between itself and a next nearest stop to limit rotation of the rotor assembly about the central rotor pivot.
