Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A vehicular vision system includes a camera having an exterior field of view, an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera, a display for displaying images derived from captured image data, and a control. The control, at least in part responsive to processing of captured image data, determines presence of an object at least partially in the camera's field of view. Responsive to determination that a portion of the determined object is obstructed or outside of the camera's field of view, the control generates an augmented image that represents an augmented reality reproduction of at least that portion of the determined object. The display displays (i) video images derived from captured image data and (ii) the generated augmented image that represents the augmented reality reproduction of at least the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the camera's field of view.

The invention claimed is: 1. A vehicular vision system, said vehicular vision system comprising: a camera disposed at a vehicle equipped with said vehicular vision system, said camera having a field of view exterior of the equipped vehicle; an image processor that processes image data captured by said camera; a display for displaying images derived from image data captured by said camera for viewing by a driver of the equipped vehicle; a control, wherein said control, at least in part responsive to processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, determines presence of an object at least partially in the field of view of said camera; wherein, responsive to determination, via processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, that a portion of the determined object is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera, said control generates an augmented image that represents an augmented reality reproduction of at least that portion of the determined object; and wherein said display displays (i) video images derived from image data captured by said camera and (ii) the generated augmented image that represents the augmented reality reproduction of at least the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera. 2. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein said camera is disposed at the equipped vehicle so as to have a field of view forward of the equipped vehicle. 3. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein said control provides an enhanced display of images in a high resolution manner when utilized with lower resolution cameras and reduced image processing. 4. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein said control generates the augmented image with an imitated texture. 5. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein said control, at least in part responsive to processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, determines another object at least partially present in the field of view of said camera. 6. The vehicular vision system of claim 5 , wherein said control deemphasizes display of the determined other object in the displayed video images when the determined other object is less important to the driver of the equipped vehicle during a driving maneuver. 7. The vehicular vision system of claim 5 , wherein said control deemphasizes display of the determined other object by partially removing the determined other object from the displayed images. 8. The vehicular vision system of claim 5 , wherein said control deemphasizes display of the determined other object by displaying the determined other object in phantom. 9. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein the augmented image comprises an augmented image of the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera. 10. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein said control generates the augmented image so that a portion of the displayed augmented image representing the portion of the determined object that is obstructed is displayed in phantom to represent that viewing of that portion of the determined object by said camera is obstructed. 11. The vehicular vision system of claim 1 , wherein said control generates the augmented image so that a portion of the displayed augmented image representing the portion of the determined object that is outside of the field of view of said camera is displayed in phantom to represent that viewing of that portion of the determined object by said camera is outside of the field of view of said camera. 12. A vehicular vision system, said vehicular vision system comprising: a camera disposed at a vehicle equipped with said vehicular vision system, said camera having a field of view at least forward of the equipped vehicle; an image processor that processes image data captured by said camera; a display for displaying images derived from image data captured by said camera for viewing by a driver of the equipped vehicle; a control, wherein said control, at least in part responsive to processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, determines presence of an object at least partially in the field of view of said camera; wherein, responsive to determination, via processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, that a portion of the determined object is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera, said control generates an augmented image that represents an augmented reality reproduction of at least that portion of the determined object; wherein said display displays (i) video images derived from image data captured by said camera and (ii) the generated augmented image that represents the augmented reality reproduction of at least the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera; and wherein said control, at least in part responsive to processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, determines another object at least partially present in the field of view of said camera. 13. The vehicular vision system of claim 12 , wherein said control deemphasizes display of the determined other object in the displayed video images when the determined other object is less important to the driver of the equipped vehicle during a driving maneuver. 14. The vehicular vision system of claim 12 , wherein said control deemphasizes display of the determined other object by partially removing the determined other object from the displayed images. 15. The vehicular vision system of claim 12 , wherein said control deemphasizes display of the determined other object by displaying the determined other object in phantom. 16. The vehicular vision system of claim 12 , wherein the augmented image comprises an augmented image of the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera. 17. A vehicular vision system, said vehicular vision system comprising: a camera disposed at a vehicle equipped with said vehicular vision system, said camera having a field of view at least forward of the equipped vehicle; an image processor that processes image data captured by said camera; a display for displaying images derived from image data captured by said camera for viewing by a driver of the equipped vehicle; a control, wherein said control, at least in part responsive to processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, determines presence of an object at least partially in the field of view of said camera; wherein, responsive to determination, via processing by said image processor of image data captured by said camera, that a portion of the determined object is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera, said control generates an augmented image that represents an augmented reality reproduction of at least that portion of the determined object; wherein said display displays (i) video images derived from image data captured by said camera and (ii) the generated augmented image that represents the augmented reality reproduction of at least the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera; and wherein said control generates the augmented image so that a portion of the displayed augmented image representing the portion of the determined object that is obstructed or outside of the field of view of said camera is displayed in phantom to represent tha
