Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system and method for printing, at a POS of a retail store, information relating to a pharmacy prescription ordered in a pharmacy of said retail store, comprises determining in a PM CS of the pharmacy a payloadiD to associate with a prescription order and printing by the PM CS information associated with said first prescription order. Then, a POS CS reading the printing at a POS of the retail store resulting in said POS CS printing a payload associated with the payloadiD in the memory of the POS CS.

The invention claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method of providing, at a retail computer system, payloads that include relevant information for users based on information from a pharmacy computer system, the method being implemented on a retail computer system having one or more physical processors programmed by computer program instructions that, when executed by the one or more physical processors, cause the retail computer system to perform the method, the method comprising: causing, by the retail computer system, a plurality of payloads to be stored in a database accessible to the retail computer system, wherein each payload comprises: (i) information to be provided to one or more users, and (ii) is associated with payload identifying information used to identify a payload; obtaining at the retail computer system remote from a pharmacy computer system during a purchase transaction comprising additional identifications of products other than a prescription, a first identifier by the retail computer system from a machine readable code encoded on a machine readable medium at the pharmacy computer system, the first identifier used to determine whether one or more payloads have been targeted to a user for whom the prescription was filled and comprising an encrypted patient identifier of the user; querying, by the retail computer system, the database that stores the plurality of payloads based on the first identifier; obtaining, by the retail computer system, at least a first payload comprising information to be provided based on the querying; and providing, by the retail computer system, the information in association with the purchase transaction. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier comprises first payload identifying information that is used to query the database and obtain the first payload. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first payload identifying information comprises drug identifying information that identifies a drug that was prescribed to the user, and wherein the first payload comprises information relating to the drug. 4. The method of claim 3 , the method further comprising: transmitting a request via the one or more communication links to the pharmacy computer system to provide an encrypted patient identifier that is associated with the first identifier; receiving the encrypted patient identifier; providing the encrypted patient identifier in association with the drug identifying information to a remote computer system; receiving from the remote computer system one or more payloads associated with the encrypted patient identifier, wherein the one or more payloads are targeted for the user based on the encrypted patient identifier; and storing the one or more payloads in association with the encrypted patient identifier. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the remote computer system comprises the pharmacy computer system or a central computer system that is coupled to the retail computer system. 6. The system of claim 3 , the method further comprising: transmit a request via the one or more communication links to the pharmacy computer system to provide an encrypted patient identifier that is associated with the first identifier; receive the encrypted patient identifier; provide the encrypted patient identifier in association with the drug identifying information to a remote computer system; receive from the remote computer system one or more payloads associated with the encrypted patient identifier, wherein the one or more payloads are targeted for the user based on the encrypted patient identifier; and store the one or more payloads in association with the encrypted patient identifier. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the remote computer system comprises the pharmacy computer system or a central computer system that is coupled to the retail computer system. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier comprises a record identifier, the method further comprising: providing, by the retail computer system, the record identifier to the pharmacy computer system via one or more communication links; and receiving, by the retail computer system, first payload identifying information associated with the record identifier from the pharmacy computer system via the one or more communication links, wherein the first payload identifying information is used to query the database. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the machine readable medium comprises a printed medium on which the machine readable code is printed or an electronic medium on which the machine readable code is arranged. 10. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising: transmitting a request via the one or more communication links to the pharmacy computer system to provide an encrypted patient identifier that is associated with the first identifier; receiving the encrypted patient identifier; querying the database based on the encrypted patient identifier; and obtaining a second payload based on the encrypted patient identifier. 11. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising: determining a current date; obtaining a first date and a second date associated with the first payload; and determining whether the current date is between the first date and the second date prior to providing the first payload prior to providing the information to be provided. 12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the retail computer system is further programmed to: transmit a request via the one or more communication links to the pharmacy computer system to provide an encrypted patient identifier that is associated with the first identifier; receive the encrypted patient identifier; query the database based on the encrypted patient identifier; and obtain a second payload based on the encrypted patient identifier. 13. A system of providing, at a retail computer system, payloads that include relevant information for users based on information from a pharmacy computer system, the system comprising: a retail computer system comprising one or more physical processors programmed by computer program instructions that, when executed by the one or more physical processors, cause the retail computer system to: cause a plurality of payloads to be stored in a database accessible to the retail computer system, wherein each payload comprises: (i) information to be provided to one or more users, and (ii) is associated with payload identifying information used to identify a payload; obtain at the retail computer system remote from a pharmacy computer system, during a purchase transaction comprising additional identifications of products other than a prescription, a first identifier from a machine readable code encoded on a machine readable medium at the pharmacy computer system and in association with a purchase transaction at the retail computer system, the first identifier used to determine whether one or more payloads have been targeted to a user for whom the prescription was filled and comprising an encrypted patient identifier of the user; query the database that stores the plurality of payloads based on the first identifier; obtain at least a first payload comprising information to be provided based on the querying; and provide the information to be provided in association with the purchase transaction. 14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the first identifier comprises first payload identifying information that is used to query the database and obtain the first payload. 15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the first payload identifying information comprises drug identifying information
