Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system and method for mediating anomaly notifications in health data to health alerts using data structures and logic to organize, contain, and disposition identified health anomalies. Multiple generators of anomaly notifications operating asynchronously and independently can be processed. The case manager organizes anomaly notifications and supports collaborative decision making among users with diverse areas of expertise.

The invention claimed is: 1. A system, comprising: a hardware processor; and a memory device, the memory device storing an application, the application when executed causing the hardware processor to perform operations, the operations comprising: receiving electronic streams of anomaly data via a communications network, the electronic streams of anomaly data describing a health provider's location associated with a health anomaly; comparing the electronic streams of anomaly data to location data fields in an electronic database, the electronic database electronically associating the location data fields to cases; determining a match between the health provider's location described by the electronic streams of anomaly data and a location data field of the location data fields in the electronic database; identifying a case of the cases in the electronic database that is electronically associated with the location data field that matches the health provider's location described by the electronic streams of anomaly data; storing the electronic streams of anomaly data in a container that corresponds to the case that is electronically associated with the location data field; and storing an electronic association in the electronic database between the container and the health provider's location described by the electronic streams of anomaly data. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving a patient's home address associated with the health anomaly. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise comparing the patient's home address to the location data fields. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise merging the electronic streams of anomaly data to other electronic streams of anomaly data also contained in the container. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise assigning a relevance of the electronic streams of anomaly data to the case based on the health provider's location. 6. The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise computing a distance between the health provider's location and a location associated with the case. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the operations further comprise assigning a relevance of the electronic streams of anomaly data to the case based on the distance. 8. A hardware memory device storing an application that when executed causes a hardware processor to perform operations, the operations comprising: receiving electronic streams of anomaly data via a communications network, the electronic streams of the anomaly data describing a health provider's location associated with a health anomaly; comparing the electronic streams of anomaly data to location data fields in an electronic database, the electronic database electronically associating the location data fields to cases; determining a match between the health provider's location described by the electronic streams of anomaly data and a location data field of the location data fields in the electronic database; identifying a case of the cases in the electronic database that is electronically associated with the location data field that matches the health provider's location described by the electronic streams of anomaly data; executing a rule that stores the electronic streams of anomaly data in a container that corresponds to the case that is electronically associated with the location data field; and executing another rule that determines a distance between the anomaly data and the location data field, assigns a relevance to the anomaly data based on the distance, and stores an electronic association in the electronic database between the anomaly data and the relevance. 9. The hardware memory device of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving a patient's home address associated with the health anomaly. 10. The hardware memory device of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise comparing the patient's home address to the location data fields. 11. The hardware memory device of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise merging the electronic streams of anomaly data to other electronic streams of anomaly data also contained in the container. 12. The hardware memory device of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise assigning the relevance to the case based on the health provider's location. 13. The hardware memory device of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise computing the distance between the health provider's location and a location associated with the case.
