A stationary blade for a blade set of an electrically operated hair cutting appliance includes first and second walls, where each wall has a first surface, a second surface facing away from the first surface, and a laterally extending leading edge having a plurality of laterally spaced apart longitudinally extending projections. The first surfaces of the first and second walls face each other, at least at their leading edges, while corresponding projections along the leading edges of the first and second walls are mutually connected at their tips to define a plurality of generally U-shaped teeth. The first surfaces of the first and second walls are separated to define a laterally extending guide slot for insertion of a movable blade of the blade set between them. The projections of the first wall have an average thickness that is less than an average thickness of the projections of the second wall.

A stationary blade for a blade set of an electrically operated hair cutting appliance, comprising: a first wall and a second wall, each of the first and second walls having a first surface, a second surface facing away from the first surface, and a leading edge with projections, wherein the first surfaces of the first and second walls face each other, at least at the leading edges, wherein the projections facing each other along the leading edges of the first and second walls are mutually connected at tips of the projections facing each other to define U-shaped teeth, wherein the first surfaces of the first and second walls along the leading edges are separated to define a guide slot for insertion of a movable blade of the blade set between the first surfaces of the first and second walls in the guide slot, the guide slot having a U-shaped cross-section with legs defined by the projections of the first and second walls, and wherein the projections of the first wall forming one of the legs of the U-shaped cross-section have the second surfaces that are configured to contact a skin of a user and have an average thickness that is less than an average thickness of the projections of the second wall. 2. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein at least the projections of the first wall have an average thickness less than 200 μm. 3. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein the first wall is substantially planar. 4. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein the first wall, seen in a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to a lateral direction, is convexly curved. 5. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the teeth, seen in a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to a lateral direction, has a convexly curved tip. 6. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein the first and second walls are mutually connected by at least one discrete connector portion that extends between their respective first surfaces. 7. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein an average thickness of the stationary blade, measured between the second surfaces of the first and second walls at their projections, is less than 1 mm. 8. The stationary blade of claim 1 , wherein the first and second walls are at least partially made of sheet metal. 9. A stationary blade for a blade set of an electrically operated hair cutting appliance, comprising: a first wall and a second wall, each of the first and second walls having a first surface, a second surface facing away from the first surface, and a leading edge with projections, wherein the first surfaces of the first and second walls face each other, at least at the leading edges, wherein the projections facing each other along the leading edges of the first and second walls are mutually connected at tips of the projections facing each other to define a plurality of U-shaped teeth, wherein the first surfaces of the first and second walls are separated to define a guide slot for insertion of a movable blade of the blade set between the first surfaces of the first and second walls in the guide slot, wherein the projections of the first wall have an average thickness that is less than an average thickness of the projections of the second wall, and wherein at least one tip of a U-shaped tooth of the stationary blade is provided with a convexly curved, plastic coating. 10.
