What is claimed is: 1. A surgical stapling system, comprising: a first module, comprising: a first display configured to display information regarding said surgical stapling system; and a first attachment portion; a second module, comprising: a second display configured to display information regarding said surgical stapling system; and a second attachment portion configured to attach said second module to said first module; and a third module, comprising: a third attachment portion configured to attach said third module to said first module in lieu of said second module; and a third display configured to display information regarding said surgical stapling system. 2. The surgical stapling system of claim 1 , wherein said first module comprises a first actuator configured to control a first function of said second module, and wherein said second module comprises a second actuator configured to control a second function of said second module. 3. The surgical stapling system of claim 1 , wherein said second module comprises an end effector configured to form longitudinal rows of staples, and wherein said third module comprises an end effector configured to form annular rows of staples. 4. The surgical stapling system of claim 3 , wherein said first module comprises a first actuator configured to control a function of said second module if said second module is attached to said first module or said third module if said third module is attached to said first module, wherein said second module comprises a second actuator configured to control a second function of said second module, and wherein said third module comprises a third actuator configured to control a third function of said third module. 5. The surgical stapling system of claim 4 , wherein said third actuator is configured to adjust the height in which the staples in said annular rows of staples are formed. 6. The surgical stapling system of claim 4 , wherein said third actuator comprises a staple cartridge and an anvil, and wherein said third actuator is configured to adjust the distance between said staple cartridge and said anvil. 7. The surgical stapling system of claim 4 , wherein said second module comprises: a longitudinal shaft defining a longitudinal axis; an end effector; an electric motor operably coupled to said end effector; and a rotation joint configured to permit said electric motor to rotate said end effector about an axis which is collinear with said longitudinal axis. 8. A surgical stapling system, comprising: a handle, comprising: a first display configured to display a first set of information regarding said surgical stapling system; and a first attachment portion; a tool assembly, comprising: a second display configured to display a second set of information regarding said surgical instrument system; and a second attachment portion configured to attach said tool assembly to said handle; a replacement tool assembly, comprising: a third attachment portion configured to attach said replacement tool assembly to said handle in lieu of said tool assembly; and a third display configured to display a third set of information regarding said surgical stapling system. 9. The surgical stapling system of claim 8 , wherein said handle comprises a first actuator configured to control a first function of said tool assembly, and wherein said tool assembly comprises a second actuator configured to control a second function of said tool assembly. 10. The surgical stapling system of claim 8 , wherein said tool assembly comprises an end effector configured to form longitudinal rows of staples, and wherein said replacement tool assembly comprises an end effector configured to form annular rows of staples. 11. The surgical stapling system of claim 10 , wherein said handle comprises a first actuator configured to control a function of said tool assembly if said tool assembly is attached to said handle or said replacement tool assembly if said replacement tool assembly is attached to said handle, wherein said tool assembly comprises a second actuator configured to control a second function of said tool assembly, and wherein said replacement tool assembly comprises a third actuator configured to control a third function of said replacement tool assembly. 12. The surgical stapling system of claim 11 , wherein said third actuator is configured to adjust the height in which the staples in said annular rows of staples are formed. 13. The surgical stapling system of claim 11 , wherein said third actuator comprises a staple cartridge and an anvil, and wherein said third actuator is configured to adjust the distance between said staple cartridge and said anvil. 14. The surgical stapling system of claim 10 , wherein said tool assembly comprises: a longitudinal shaft defining a longitudinal axis; an end effector; an electric motor operably coupled to said end effector; and a rotation joint configured to permit said electric motor to rotate said end effector about an axis which is collinear with said longitudinal axis. 15. The surgical stapling system of claim 8 , wherein said third set of information is different than said second set of information. 16. The surgical stapling system of claim 8 , wherein said second set of information is different than said first set of information. 17. A surgical stapling system kit, comprising: a first module, comprising: a first display system configured to display a first set of data regarding the operation of said first module; and a first attachment portion; a second module, comprising: a second display system configured to display a second set of data regarding the operation of said second module; and a second attachment portion attachable to said first attachment portion of said first module; and a third module, comprising: a third display system configured to display a third set of data regarding the operation of said third module; and a third attachment portion attachable to said first attachment portion of said first module. 18. The surgical stapling system kit of claim 17 , wherein said first display system is configured to display at least a portion of said second set of data when said second module is attached to said first module, and wherein said first display system is configured to display at least a portion of said third set of data when said third module is attached to said first module. 19. The surgical stapling system kit of claim 18 , wherein said second module comprises: a staple cartridge; staples removably stored in said staple cartridge; and an anvil configured to deform said staples, wherein said second set of data includes the distance between said staple cartridge and said anvil. 20. The surgical stapling system kit of claim 17 , wherein said second module comprises: a longitudinal shaft defining a longitudinal axis; an end effector; an electric motor operably coupled to said end effector; and a rotation joint configured to permit said electric motor to rotate said end effector about an axis which is collinear with said longitudinal axis.
