Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method of wireless communication at a serving base station identifies a potential interference condition based on an uplink/downlink configuration mismatch. The method includes signaling, to a neighbor base station, to restrict transmissions based on the identified potential interference condition. The transmissions may be restricted by beamforming the transmissions into a different direction and/or blocking transmissions on a frequency. The signaling prompts the neighbor base station to restrict downlink transmissions that will potentially interfere with uplink control channel transmissions received at the serving base station, or to restrict uplink transmissions, intended for the neighbor base station, that will potentially interfere with downlink control channel transmissions from the serving base station.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of wireless communication, comprising: identifying, at a victim base station, a potential interference condition based at least in part on an uplink/downlink configuration mismatch; and signaling, from the victim base station to an aggressor base station, to restrict transmissions based on the identified potential interference condition, the transmissions restricted by one of: beamforming the transmissions into a different direction, blocking transmissions on a frequency, or a combination thereof, the signaling prompting the aggressor base station to restrict: portions of downlink transmissions that will potentially interfere with uplink control channel transmissions received at the victim base station, the portions of the downlink transmissions restricted to a sub-set of frequencies and restricted to a specific transmission direction of available transmission directions, or portions of uplink transmissions, intended for the aggressor base station, that will potentially interfere with downlink control channel transmissions from the victim base station, the portions of the uplink transmissions restricted to a sub-set of frequencies and restricted to a specific transmission direction of available transmission directions. 2. The method of claim 1 , in which the signaling comprises signaling a shortened format that begins after a start of a subframe. 3. The method of claim 1 , in which the uplink/downlink configuration mismatch comprises a mismatch between time domain division (TDD) subframe configurations of the victim base station and the aggressor base station. 4. The method of claim 1 , in which the signaling prompts the aggressor base station to restrict the portions of downlink transmissions, and the method further comprises receiving the uplink control channel transmissions at the victim base station when the portions of downlink transmissions from the aggressor base station are restricted. 5. The method of claim 1 , in which the signaling prompts the aggressor base station to restrict the portions of uplink transmissions intended for the aggressor base station, and the method further comprises receiving the downlink control channel transmissions when the portions of uplink transmissions intended for the aggressor base station are restricted. 6. A victim base station configured for wireless communication, comprising: a memory; and at least one processor coupled to the memory, the at least one processor configured: to identify a potential interference condition based at least in part on an uplink/downlink configuration mismatch; and to signal, to an aggressor base station, to restrict transmissions based on the identified potential interference condition, the transmissions restricted by one of: beamforming the transmissions into a different direction, blocking transmissions on a frequency, or a combination thereof, the signaling prompting the aggressor base station to restrict: portions of downlink transmissions that will potentially interfere with uplink control channel transmissions received at the victim base station, the portions of the downlink transmissions restricted to a sub-set of frequencies and restricted to a specific transmission direction of available transmission directions, or portions of uplink transmissions, intended for the aggressor base station, that will potentially interfere with downlink control channel transmissions from the victim base station, the portions of the uplink transmissions restricted to a sub-set of frequencies and restricted to a specific transmission direction of available transmission directions. 7. The victim base station of claim 6 , in which the at least one processor is further configured to signal in a shortened format that begins after a start of a subframe. 8. The victim base station of claim 6 , in which the uplink/downlink configuration mismatch comprises a mismatch between time domain division (TDD) subframe configurations of the victim base station and the aggressor base station. 9. The victim base station of claim 6 , in which: the signaling prompts the aggressor base station to restrict the portions of downlink transmissions, and the at least one processor is further configured to receive the uplink control channel transmissions at the victim base station when the portions of downlink transmissions from the aggressor base station are restricted. 10. The victim base station of claim 6 , in which: the signaling prompts the aggressor base station to restrict the portions of uplink transmissions intended for the aggressor base station, and the at least one processor is further configured to receive the downlink control channel transmissions when the portions of uplink transmissions intended for the aggressor base station are restricted. 11. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having program code recorded thereon, the program code comprising: program code to identify, at a victim base station, a potential interference condition based at least in part on an uplink/downlink configuration mismatch; and program code to signal, from the victim base station to an aggressor base station, to restrict transmissions based on the identified potential interference condition, the transmissions restricted by one of: beamforming the transmissions into a different direction, blocking transmissions on a frequency, or a combination thereof, the signaling prompting the aggressor base station to restrict: portions of downlink transmissions that will potentially interfere with uplink control channel transmissions received at the victim base station, the portions of the downlink transmissions restricted to a sub-set of frequencies and restricted to a specific transmission direction of available transmission directions, or portions of uplink transmissions, intended for the aggressor base station, that will potentially interfere with downlink control channel transmissions from the victim base station, the portions of the uplink transmissions restricted to a sub-set of frequencies and restricted to a specific transmission direction of available transmission directions. 12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , in which the program code to signal further comprises program code to signal in a shortened format that begins after a start of a subframe. 13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , in which the uplink/downlink configuration mismatch comprises a mismatch between time domain division (TDD) subframe configurations of the victim base station and the aggressor base station. 14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , in which: the signaling prompts the aggressor base station to restrict the portions of downlink transmissions, and the program code further comprises program code to receive the uplink control channel transmissions at the victim base station when the portions of downlink transmissions from the aggressor base station are restricted. 15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , in which: the signaling prompts the aggressor base station to restrict the portions of uplink transmissions intended for the aggressor base station, and the program code further comprises program code to receive the downlink control channel transmissions when the portions of uplink transmissions intended for the aggressor base station are restricted. 16. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising: means for identifying, at a victim base station, a potential interference condition based at least in part on an uplink/downlink configur
