A reciprocating saw blade for use with a reciprocating saw, the saw blade including a body including a first substantially planar surface and a second substantially planar surface opposite the first surface, an attachment portion for coupling the saw blade to the reciprocating saw, a cutting edge including a plurality of cutting teeth, and a rib element including a pair of outermost rib members. One of the outermost rib members is proximate the cutting edge and the other of the outermost rib members is proximate a back edge of the blade opposite the cutting edge. Each outermost rib member includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portions of each of the ribs are substantially parallel to one another.

The invention claimed is: 1. A reciprocating saw blade for use with a reciprocating saw, the saw blade comprising: a body including a first planar surface and a second planar surface opposite the first surface; an attachment portion including a tang and an aperture for coupling the saw blade to the reciprocating saw; a cutting edge including a plurality of cutting teeth; and a rib arrangement formed on the first planar surface including a first rib and a second rib, each rib including a first portion and a second portion connected by an intermediate portion, the first portions of the first and second ribs extending from the intermediate portions in a direction toward the attachment portion, the second portions of the first and second ribs extending from the intermediate portions in a direction away from the attachment portion, the first portions of the first rib and the second rib being parallel to one another, the intermediate portion of the first rib being angled relative to the first portion of the first rib and extending from the first portion toward the cutting edge, and the intermediate portion of the second rib being angled relative to the first portion of the second rib and extending from the first portion toward an edge of the saw blade opposite the cutting edge. 2. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the attachment portion defines a first width and the body defines a second width that is greater than the first width. 3. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate portion of the first rib is parallel to the intermediate portion of the second rib. 4. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate portions are aligned along a common axis. 5. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the first rib is parallel to and spaced from the second portion of the first rib. 6. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the second portion of the first rib is parallel to the cutting edge, and wherein the second portion of the second rib is parallel to the edge of the saw blade opposite the cutting edge. 7. A reciprocating saw blade for use with a reciprocating saw, the saw blade comprising: a body including a first planar surface and a second planar surface opposite the first surface; an attachment portion including a tang and an aperture for coupling the saw blade to the reciprocating saw; a cutting edge including a plurality of cutting teeth; and a rib arrangement formed on the first planar surface including a first rib and a second rib that each include a first portion and a second portion offset from the first portion, wherein the first portion of the first rib extends along and in line with a first axis, and the second portion of the first rib extends along and in line with a second axis parallel to and laterally offset from the first axis on the first planar surface; wherein the first portion of the first rib and the first portion of the second rib each extend along the attachment portion proximate the aperture on opposing sides of the aperture such that the aperture is disposed between the first portions. 8. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 7 , wherein the first portion of the second rib extends along a third axis, and the second portion of the second rib extends along a fourth axis that is parallel to and spaced from the third axis. 9. The reciprocating saw of claim 8 , wherein the first axis is parallel to the third axis. 10. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 8 , wherein the first rib and the second rib each include an intermediate portion that extends between the first portion and the second portion. 11. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 7 , wherein the first rib includes an intermediate portion extending between the first portion and the second portion. 12. The reciprocating saw blade of claim 7 , wherein the first portions are defined at least partially on each of the attachment portion and the body.
