Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present invention comprises an input part for inputting image data, a receiving part for receiving production information relating to production transmitted from another apparatus, a recording part for recording the production information received by the receiving part and image data input by the input part, a detection part for detecting a recording position on a recording medium at an editing point of image data recorded by the recording part, and a transmission part for transmitting information of the recording position detected by the detection part, whereby identification information for identifying image data and voice data is recorded in a recording medium or a recording device, this relieving a burden on a photographer and an editor and facilitating extraction of image data and voice data.

What is claimed is: 1. An image processing system comprising: an imaging device configured to capture an image and generate image data representing the captured image; a memory storing executable user code which, when read, causes processing circuitry to: generate at least one of first, second or third metadata, the first metadata indicating information set before the image is captured, the second metadata indicating information set at or during a timing of capturing the image, and the third metadata indicating information set after the image is captured, in accordance with an external input; associate the generated metadata with the image; and store the image and the generated metadata. 2. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the imaging device is configured to change an imaging setup condition, and wherein the first metadata is information indicating the imaging setup condition. 3. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the first or the second metadata is information indicating a position of the imaging device or a subject whose image is captured by the imaging device. 4. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the third metadata is editable in response to an input from an external device. 5. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the second metadata is a time stamp indicating a time at which the image is captured. 6. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the image data and associated metadata are stored in a data store. 7. The image processing system of claim 6 , wherein at least the image data is stored in an external store. 8. The image processing system of claim 7 , wherein the external store is a RAID. 9. The image processing system of claim 7 , wherein the external store is coupled to the system via a network, and is capable of archiving. 10. The image processing system of claim 7 , wherein the third metadata further includes information indicating the storage location of the image data, and the user code causes a processor in an external device to access the image data based on the information indicating the storage location of the image data. 11. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the first, second and third metadata are readable as text data. 12. The image processing system of claim 11 , wherein the first, second and third metadata are described in a metadata file. 13. The image processing system of claim 12 , wherein the metadata file has a hierarchical structure. 14. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to edit image data representing plural images and to add additional metadata to the edited image data. 15. The image processing system of claim 1 , wherein the third metadata is information indicating a result of image processing of the captured image. 16. An image processing method comprising: capturing an image and generating image data representing the captured image; generating at least one of first, second or third metadata; the first metadata indicating information set before the image is captured, the second metadata indicating information set at or during a timing of capturing the image, and the third metadata indicating information set after the image is captured, in accordance with an external input; associating the generated metadata with the image; and storing the image and the generated metadata. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first metadata is information indicating an imaging setup condition for capturing an image. 18. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first or the second metadata is information indicating a position of an imaging device used to capture the image, or a subject whose image is captured by the imaging device. 19. The method of claim 16 , wherein the third metadata is editable in response to an input from an external device. 20. The method of claim 16 , wherein the second metadata is a time stamp indicating a time at which the image is captured. 21. The method of claim 16 , wherein the image data and associated metadata are stored in a data store. 22. The method of claim 21 , wherein at least the image data is stored in an external store. 23. The method of claim 22 , wherein the external store is a RAID. 24. The method of claim 22 , wherein the external store is capable of archiving. 25. The method of claim 22 , wherein the third metadata further includes information indicating the storage location of the image data, and further comprising accessing the image data based on the information indicating the storage location of the image data. 26. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first, second and third metadata are readable as text data. 27. The method of claim 26 , wherein the first, second and third metadata are described in a metadata file. 28. The method of claim 16 , further comprising editing image data representing plural images and adding additional metadata to the edited image data. 29. The method of claim 16 , wherein the third metadata is information indicating a result of image processing of the captured image. 30. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program which, when read by a computer system executes the method comprising: controlling an imaging device to capture an image and generate image data representing the captured image; generating at least one of first, second or third metadata; the first metadata indicating information set before the image is captured, the second metadata indicating information set at or during a timing of capturing the image, and the third metadata indicating information set after the image is captured, in accordance with an external input; associating the generated metadata with the image; and storing the image and the generated metadata in the same or different storage media. 31. The medium of claim 30 , wherein the first metadata is information indicating an imaging setup condition of the imaging device for capturing an image. 32. The medium of claim 30 , wherein the first or the second metadata is information indicating a position of the imaging device, or a subject whose image is captured by the imaging device. 33. The medium of claim 30 , wherein the third metadata is editable in response to an input from an external device. 34. The medium of claim 30 , wherein the second metadata is a time stamp indicating a time at which the image is captured. 35. The medium of claim 30 , wherein the image data and associated metadata are stored in a data store. 36. The medium of claim 35 , wherein at least the image data is stored in an external store. 37. The medium of claim 36 , wherein the external store is a RAID. 38. The medium of claim 36 , wherein the external store is capable of archiving. 39. The medium of claim 36 , wherein the third metadata further includes information indicating the storage location of the image data, and the program enables an external device to access the image data based on the information indicating the storage location of the image data. 40. The medium of claim 30 , wherein the first, second and third metadata are read
