Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In a computer-implemented method for displaying an electronic product page responsive to scanning a retail item a retail item is scanned via a scanning device at a location, wherein the scanning device comprises a display screen, and wherein the location is not a point-of-sale at a retail store. In response to scanning the retail item, an electronic product page of said retail item is automatically displayed on the display screen. A user of the scanning device is enabled to purchase the retail item via the electronic product page displayed on the display screen.

The invention claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method comprising: scanning a wearable retail item via a scanning device at a retail store, wherein said scanning device comprises a touch display screen, and wherein said scanning is not associated with a point-of-sale at said retail store; generating an alert in response to scanning said wearable retail item, the alert being provided to a store associate's device, the alert indicating a location where the scanning occurred, and the alert informing a store associate monitoring the store associate's device to locate and directly assist a user of said scanning device; displaying an ensemble of wearable retail items corresponding to said wearable retail item, the ensemble of wearable retail items comprising a plurality of coordinated wearable retail items, each of the plurality of coordinated wearable retail items being different than, but coordinated with, the wearable retail item; displaying, on the touch display screen, a link to the ensemble of wearable retail items, the link providing a location where the ensemble of wearable retail items, including the wearable retail item, can be found; automatically displaying, on the touch display screen, inventory of said wearable retail item in said retail store via an electronic product page of said wearable retail item; and purchasing, via the touch display screen and based on customer input to the electronic product page, at least one of said wearable retail item or any of said ensemble of wearable retail items corresponding to said wearable retail item via said scanning device while in said retail store and not at said point-of-sale of said retail store. 2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , comprising: enabling purchase said wearable retail item via said electronic product page displayed on said touch display screen. 3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said alert is selected from the group consisting of: a text, and an email. 4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein a web browser displays said electronic product page from an electronic commerce site. 5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said electronic product page is displayed via a web application executing on said scanning device. 6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein said scanning device is selected from a group consisting of: a mobile phone or a tablet computing device. 7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising: in response to unavailability of said wearable retail item, displaying alternative or similar wearable retail items. 8. A computer-implemented method comprising: accessing retail item information of a wearable retail item at a device, and wherein said retail item information is not associated with a point-of-sale at a retail store; and in response to accessing said retail item information, automatically displaying an electronic product page of said wearable retail item at a display screen of said device, and generating an alert, the alert being presented to a store associate's device, the alert indicating a location of the device, and the alert informing a store associate monitoring the store associate's device to locate and directly assist a user of said device; displaying an ensemble of wearable retail items corresponding to said wearable retail item such that a customer can purchase said wearable retail item and any of said ensemble of wearable retail items corresponding to said wearable retail item while in said retail store and not at said point-of-sale of said retail store, the ensemble of wearable retail items comprising a plurality of coordinated wearable retail items, each of the plurality of coordinated wearable retail items being different than, but coordinated with, the wearable retail item; displaying, on the display screen, a link to the ensemble of wearable retail items, the link providing a location where the ensemble of wearable retail items, including the wearable retail item, can be found; and purchasing, via the display screen and based on a customer input, at least one of said wearable retail item or any of said ensemble of wearable retail items corresponding to said wearable retail item via said device while in said retail store and not at said point-of-sale of said retail store. 9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein said retail item information is accessed via scanning said retail item information. 10. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein said retail item information is accessed via user input at said device. 11. The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein in response to accessing said retail item information, automatically displaying an electronic product page of said wearable retail item at said device further comprises: in response to accessing said wearable retail item at an e-commerce website, automatically displaying said electronic product page of said wearable retail item via said e-commerce website.
