Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A satellite reception assembly may comprise a housing configured to support receipt and handling of a plurality of satellite signals. The housing may comprise circuitry incorporating integrated stacking architecture for supporting and/or providing channel and/or band stacking whereby particular channels or bands, from multiple satellite signals that are received via the satellite reception assembly, may be combined onto a single output signal that may be communicated from the satellite reception assembly to a gateway device for concurrent distribution thereby to a plurality of client devices serviced by the gateway device.

What is claimed: 1. A system, comprising: a signal reception assembly that is configured to receive a plurality of satellite signals captured using a satellite signal reflector, wherein each of the plurality of satellite signals is different from remaining ones of the plurality satellite signals; and a processing circuitry that is configured to: process at least two signals from the plurality of satellite signals; and generate an output signal based on the processing of the at least two signals; wherein: the output signal comprises only one or more portions from each of the at least two signals; the one or more portions from the at least two signals are stacked within the output signal; stacking of the one or more portions from the at least two signals comprises applying channel equalization; and the channel equalization comprising equalizing power of a frequency band corresponding to the one or more portions, the equalizing of power comprising: dividing the frequency band into a plurality of frequency bins; applying a weighting to frequencies in each of the plurality of frequency bins; and applying power equalization over the plurality of frequency bins, wherein the power equalization is configured to prevent leakage of power from one frequency bin into adjacent frequency bins across the entire frequency band. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is operable to apply the channel equalization separately to each of one or more equalization inputs, with each equalization input corresponding to one of the at least two signals. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the processing circuitry is operable to generate each equalization input based on processing of a corresponding one of the at least two signals. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein processing the corresponding one of the at least two signals comprises applying one or more of: amplification, mixing, filtering, and analog-to-digital conversion. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the channel equalization is applied in frequency-domain, and application of the channel equalization comprises applying a fast Fourier transform (FFT) function before frequency-domain equalization, and an inverse fast Fourier transform (iFFT) function after frequency-domain equalization. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is housed in the signal reception assembly. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the signal reception assembly is operable to communicate the output signal to a gateway device that is operable to distribute content from the output signal to one or more client services in a network serviced by the gateway device. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the gateway device comprises a satellite set-top box (STB). 9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the signal reception assembly is operable to communicate the output signal to the gateway device over a single link that is configured based on one or more of: a coaxial cable connection, a twisted-pair connection, a Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) connection, an Ethernet connection, or a Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) based connection. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the processing circuitry is operable to combine the one or more portions from each of the at least two received satellite signals based on configuration of the single link. 11. A method, comprising: receiving by a satellite reception assembly, a plurality of satellite signals captured using a satellite signal reflector, wherein each of the plurality of satellite signals is different from remaining ones of the plurality satellite signals; processing in the satellite reception assembly, at least two signals from the received plurality of satellite signals; generating by the satellite reception assembly, an output signal based on the processing of the at least two signals; wherein: the output signal comprises only one or more portions from each of the at least two signals, the one or more portions from the at least two signals are stacked within the output signal, stacking of the one or more portions from the at least two signals comprises applying channel equalization, and the channel equalization comprising equalizing power of a frequency band corresponding to the one or more portions, the equalizing of power comprising: dividing the frequency band into a plurality of frequency bins; applying a weighting to frequencies in each of the plurality of frequency bins; and applying power equalization over the plurality of frequency bins, wherein the power equalization is configured to prevent leakage of power from one frequency bin into adjacent frequency bins across the entire frequency band. 12. The method of claim 11 , comprising applying the channel equalization separately to each of one or more equalization inputs, with each equalization input corresponding to one of the at least two signals. 13. The method of claim 12 , comprising generating each equalization input based on processing of a corresponding one of the at least two signals. 14. The method of claim 13 , comprising applying, when processing the corresponding one of the at least two signals, one or more of: amplification, mixing, filtering, and analog-to-digital conversion. 15. The method of claim 11 , comprising applying the channel equalization in frequency-domain, and wherein applying the channel equalization comprises applying a fast Fourier transform (FFT) function before frequency-domain equalization, and an inverse fast Fourier transform (iFFT) function after frequency-domain equalization. 16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the one or more portions comprise channels or bands in satellite signals. 17. The method of claim 11 , comprising communicating the output signal to a gateway device that distributed content from the output signal to one or more client services in a network serviced by the gateway device. 18. The method of claim 17 , comprising communicating the output signal to the gateway device over a single link that is configured based on one or more of: a coaxial cable connection, a twisted-pair connection, a Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) connection, an Ethernet connection, or a Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) based connection. 19. The method of claim 18 , comprising configuring combining of the one or more portions from each of the at least two received satellite signals based on configuration of the single link. 20. A system, comprising: a signal reception assembly that is configured to receive a plurality of satellite signals captured using a satellite signal reflector; and a processing circuitry that is configured to: process at least one of the plurality of satellite signals; and generate an output signal based on the processing of the at least one of the plurality of satellite signals; wherein: the output signal comprises only one or more portions from the at least one of the plurality of satellite signals; the one or more portions from the at least one of the plurality of satellite signals are stacked within the output signal; stacking of the one or more portions from the at least one of the plurality of satellite signals comprises applying channel equalization; and the channel equalization comprising equalizing power of a frequency band corresponding to the one or more portions, wherein the equalizing of power comprising: dividing the frequency band into a plurality of frequency bins; applying a weighting to frequencies in each of the plurality of frequency bins; and applying power equ
