What is claimed is: 1. A system for removing copper species from a hydraulic fluid, the system comprising: a filter comprising a thiol resin, wherein the thiol resin comprises 2-mercaptoethyl ethyl sulfide silica beads, and wherein the filter is configured to be in fluid communication with the hydraulic fluid. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the thiol resin further comprises at least one of a particle, a paper or a membrane, or combinations thereof. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the filter further comprises a housing. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the housing comprises an inlet and an outlet. 5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the inlet and outlet are configured for fluid communication with the hydraulic fluid of the system. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the thiol resin further comprises an inorganic support. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the inorganic support further comprises TiO 2 , ZnO, Al 2 O 3 , or combinations thereof. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the 2-mercaptoethyl ethyl sulfide silica beads are nonporous.
