The invention claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: obtaining a sample of a song on a portable device being operated by a consumer; transmitting, by the portable device, the sample to a server over a network; receiving, on the portable device, an identification of a song that matches the sample back from the server over the network; and consummating a purchase of the song contemporaneously with receipt of the song that matches the sample from the portable device in response to processing a single step with the consumer and in response to utilizing a token associated with the consumer that is received from the portable device. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein obtaining further includes recording the sample using a microphone interfaced to the portable device. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein recording further includes recording the sample using the microphone from one of: a television transmission, a radio transmission, a transmission capable of being captured from the microphone, and a web-based transmission. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein obtaining further includes converting a recording captured by the portable device into the sample as a digital sample. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting further includes converting the sample into a digital hash representing the sample and transmitting the digital hash as the sample to the server. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting further includes transmitting the sample from the portable device as a registered device with the server. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting further includes transmitting the sample from the portable device that is associated with a subscription with the server. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving further includes receiving the song with the identification based on a subscription with the server. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving further includes receiving a source identification for a source that can supply the song to the portable device within the identification. 10. A method, comprising: recording, on a mobile device being operated by a consumer, an audio sample; providing, from the mobile device, the audio sample to a server over a wireless network, wherein providing further includes transmitting from the mobile device the audio sample to the server; receiving, from the server over the wireless network, information relevant to a good or a service back that the server matched to the audio sample; and consummating a purchase of the good or service contemporaneously with receipt of the information from the mobile device in response to processing a single step with the consumer and in response to utilizing a token associated with the consumer and provided by the mobile device. 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein recording further includes recording the audio sample during a live audio transmission capable of being recorded by a microphone of the mobile device. 12. The method of claim 10 , wherein recording further includes recording the audio sample during a broadcast of programming over one of: a television transmission, a radio transmission, and a web-based transmission. 13. The method of claim 10 , wherein providing further includes transmitting, over the wireless network, the audio sample as recorded on the mobile device. 14. The method of claim 10 , wherein providing further includes transmitting the audio sample as a digital hash to the server over the wireless network. 15. The method of claim 10 , wherein receiving further includes receiving the information as information relevant to an advertisement for the good or the service. 16. The method of claim 10 , wherein receiving further includes receiving with the information a song as the good based on a subscription with the server. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein receiving further includes receiving the information as a source identifier for a source that can provide the good or the service to the mobile device. 18. A system, comprising: a portable device; and software configured to: i) execute on the device, ii) obtain a sample of a song on the device, iii) transmit the sample from the portable device to a server over a network, iv) receive information, over the network and from the server, wherein the received information is relevant to the song that the server matched to the sample, and v) contemporaneously purchasing the song upon receipt of the information from the portable device in response to processing a single step with the consumer and in response to utilizing a token associated with a user that is provided by the portable device. 19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the software is further configured, in iv), to: receive the song on the device based on a subscription.
