Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A process is implemented by a network device for enabling the provisioning of explicit trees in a network by reporting link aggregation group (LAG) configuration information to a path computation element (PCE). The network device implements a LAG module and an intermediate system-intermediate system (IS-IS) module that includes an IS-IS path control and reservation module (ISIS-PCR). The process includes reporting LAG configuration by the LAG module to the IS-IS module within the network device, sending a link state protocol data unit (PDU) (LSP) with the LAG configuration in a LAG sub type length value (TLV) by the ISIS-PCR, receiving, by the IS-IS module, an explicit tree that specifies at least one virtual local area network (VLAN) identifier (VID) to an aggregation link of the LAG assignment, and translating, by the ISIS-PCR module, the explicit tree into a LAG configuration, the LAG configuration specifying a conversation to aggregation link assignment.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the LAG configuration reported to the IS-IS module includes port information and characteristics of each of the links of the LAG. 3. The method of any of claim 1 , wherein the LSP is sent into the network with a LAG sub-type length value (TLV) identifying links of the LAG to enable inclusion of the links in a topology of the network. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the explicit tree is received from the PCE in another LSP that includes a Topology sub-type length value (TLV) that identifies hops of the explicit tree and a VID to link assignment. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: configuring the LAG by providing the conversation to aggregation link assignment to the aggregation layer. 6. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored therein defining a method to be implemented by a network device for enabling the provisioning of explicit trees in a network by reporting link aggregation group (LAG) configuration information to a path computation element (PCE), the network device implementing a LAG module and an intermediate system intermediate system (IS-IS) module including an IS-IS path control and reservation module (ISIS-PCR), the instructions when executed by a processor of the network device causing a set of operations to be performed comprising: reporting LAG configuration by the LAG module to the IS-IS module within the network device; sending a link state protocol data unit (PDU) (LSP) with the LAG configuration in a LAG sub type length value (TLV) by the ISIS-PCR; receiving, by the IS-IS module, an explicit tree that specifies at least one virtual local area network (VLAN) identifier (VID) to aggregation link of the LAG assignment; and translating, by the ISIS-PCR module, the explicit tree into a LAG configuration, the LAG configuration specifying a conversation to aggregation link assignment. 7. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the LAG configuration reported to the IS-IS module includes port information and characteristics of each of the links of the LAG. 8. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the LSP is sent into the network with a LAG sub-type length value (TLV) identifying links of the LAG to enable inclusion of the links in a topology of the network. 9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the explicit tree is received from the PCE in another LSP that includes a Topology sub-type length value (TLV) that identifies hops of the explicit tree and a VID to link assignment. 10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , having further instructions stored therein which when executed cause operations to be performed further comprising: configuring the LAG by providing the conversation to aggregation link assignment to the aggregation layer. 11.
