Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An electrical device having a bus side and a load side is provided. The electrical device includes a plurality of conductive line terminals disposed on the bus side of said electrical device, and a plurality of electrical connectors. Each electrical connector of the plurality of electrical connectors includes a first end coupled to a respective line terminal of the plurality of line terminals, a second end distal from the first end, and a connector clip disposed at the second end. Each connector clip is configured to engage a bus bar to electrically couple the electrical device to the bus bar, and includes a first contact segment and a second contact segment spaced apart from the first contact segment. The first and second contact segments are configured to deflect towards one another from a relaxed position to a depressed position when inserted into a connector channel defined by the bus bar.

What is claimed is: 1. An electrical device having a bus side and a load side, said electrical device comprising: a plurality of conductive line terminals disposed on the bus side of said electrical device; a plurality of electrical connectors, each electrical connector of said plurality of electrical connectors comprising a first end coupled to a respective line terminal of said plurality of line terminals, a second end distal from said first end, and a connector clip disposed at said second end, said each connector clip configured to engage a bus bar to electrically couple said electrical device to the bus bar, wherein said each connector clip comprises a first contact segment and a second contact segment spaced apart from said first contact segment, said first and second contact segments configured to deflect towards one another from a relaxed position to a depressed position when inserted into a connector channel defined by the bus bar; and a support spring coupled to one or more of said first contact segment or said second contact segment, said support spring configured to bias said first and second contact segments away from one another. 2. The electrical device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said first contact segment and said second contact segment are coupled to one another by an additional biasing element that biases said first and second contact segments away from one another. 3. The electrical device in accordance with claim 2 , wherein said additional biasing element comprises a C-shaped biasing element integrally formed with said first and second contact segments. 4. The electrical device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein at least one of said first contact segment and said second contact segment comprises a contoured contact surface. 5. The electrical device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said each connector clip comprises a first contact member and a second contact member coupled to one another along an adjoining segment, said first contact member comprising said first contact segment, and said second contact member comprising said second contact segment. 6. The electrical device in accordance with claim 5 , wherein said first contact member and said second contact member are constructed from separate pieces of conductive material. 7. The electrical device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said first contact segment and said second contact segment are constructed from a unitary piece of conductive material. 8. The electrical device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said electrical device comprises an internal trip mechanism configured to interrupt an electrical connection between the bus bar and a load coupled to said bus bar through said electrical device. 9. The electrical device in accordance with claim 1 , wherein at least one of said first contact segment and said second contact segment comprises a plurality of contact fingers, each contact finger of said plurality of contact fingers depressible independently of one another. 10. An electrical distribution system comprising: a frame; a bus bar assembly coupled to said frame, said bus bar assembly comprising a plurality of bus bars, adjacent bus bars of said plurality of bus bars spaced from one another in a first direction, said bus bar assembly including at least two sides defining a perimeter of said bus bar assembly; and an electrical device comprising a plurality of connector clips and a bus side insulating member coupled to a bus side of said electrical device and configured to electrically insulate adjacent connector clips of said plurality of connector clips from one another, said adjacent connector clips spaced from one another in the first direction, wherein each connector clip of said plurality of connector clips is electrically coupleable to said bus bar assembly along any side of the plurality of sides of said bus bar assembly, and wherein said bus side insulating member defines an exhaust port configured to expel gas from within said electrical device. 11. The electrical distribution system in accordance with claim 10 , wherein at least one of said connector clips comprises a first contact segment and a second contact segment spaced from said first contact segment in the first direction; said first and second contact segments configured to deflect towards one another from a relaxed position to a depressed position when inserted into a connector channel defined by one of said plurality of bus bars. 12. The electrical distribution system in accordance with claim 11 , wherein each bus bar of said plurality of bus bars comprises: a first plate; a second plate spaced from said first plate in the first direction; and an intermediate member disposed between and interconnecting said first plate and said second plate, wherein said first plate, said second plate, and said intermediate member collectively define the connector channel, wherein said at least one of said connector clips is insertable into the connector channel such that said first contact segment engages said first plate and said second contact segment engages said second plate. 13. The electrical distribution system in accordance with claim 10 , wherein said bus side insulating member cooperatively engages said bus bar assembly to isolate said adjacent bus bars from one another and said adjacent connector clips from one another. 14. The electrical distribution system in accordance with claim 10 , further comprising a tubular member coupled to said bus bar assembly, said tubular member defining an exhaust channel coupled in fluid communication with the exhaust port of said electrical device, wherein the exhaust channel is configured to direct gas generated by said electrical device away from said electrical device. 15. An electrical distribution system comprising: a frame; a bus bar assembly coupled to said frame, said bus bar assembly comprising a plurality of bus bars, adjacent bus bars of said plurality of bus bars spaced from one another in a first direction, said bus bar assembly including at least two sides defining a perimeter of said bus bar assembly; and an electrical device comprising a plurality of connector clips, adjacent connector clips of said plurality of connector clips spaced from one another in the first direction, wherein each connector clip of said plurality of connector clips is electrically coupleable to said bus bar assembly along any side of the plurality of sides of said bus bar assembly, wherein said electrical device is an interface module having a bus bar side and a component side, said interface module comprising a plurality of contact stabs disposed on said component side, each contact stab of said plurality of contact stabs electrically coupled to a respective connector clip of said plurality of connector clips, wherein said interface module is configured to electrically couple another electrical device to said bus bar assembly having an electrical connection interface different than an electrical connection interface of said bus bar assembly. 16.
