Disclosed herein are pyrimidine compounds of formula I and formula II and methods for treating or preventing a viral infection, such as infections caused by dengue virus in a subject, comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of a pyrimidine compound of formula I or formula II.

We claim: 1. A compound, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the compound is selected from the group consisting of: 2. A method of inhibiting entry of a virus into a host cell comprising contacting the host cell with an effective amount of a compound of claim 1 , wherein the virus is of family Flaviviridae. 3.
