Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An electronic display assembly for suspending an electronic display from one or more elongate members is disclosed. A closed loop of circulating fluid, such as air, may be placed within a sealed electronics compartment. An open loop channel may permit fluid, such as ambient air, to pass through the assembly via a channel defined by the space between the back pan and the electronic display. A pair of passageways preferably extend vertically along the assembly and are configured to accommodate the passage of an elongate member. Clamps may be utilized within these passageways to secure the assembly to the elongate members.

First claim

I claim: 1. A suspended electronic display assembly comprising: an electronic display located within a housing; a pair of elongate members which extend from a first, fixed structure located above the electronic display, enter the housing, extend through the housing, exit the housing, and extend to a second, fixed structure located below the electronic display to support the electronic display; a substantially sealed compartment for circulating gas positioned entirely behind the electronic display; a channel for receiving ambient air located between a rear surface of the electronic display and a front surface of the substantially sealed compartment; and a plurality of clamps located outside of the substantially sealed compartment and within said housing, wherein each of the plurality of clamps is sized to accept the elongate member. 2. The suspended electronic display of claim 1 further comprising: a fan placed within the substantially sealed compartment. 3. The suspended electronic display of claim 1 further comprising: a partition placed within the substantially sealed compartment. 4. The suspended electronic display of claim 1 further comprising: a pair of vertical passageways located outside of the substantially sealed compartment and having at least one clamp located in each of the vertical passageways. 5. The suspended electronic display of claim 1 further comprising: a fan positioned to draw ambient air into the channel. 6. The suspended electronic display of claim 1 wherein: the substantially sealed compartment is comprised of a back pan, wall, and rear cover. 7. A suspended electronic display comprising: at least one electronic display; a housing surrounding said electronic display; a substantially sealed compartment positioned entirely behind the electronic display and within said housing; a pair of vertical passageways extending through the housing and along either side of the electronics compartment; a pair of elongate members that extend through each of the vertical passageways and are secured on a first end thereof to a first, fixed structure located above the housing and are secured on a second end thereof to a second, fixed structure located below the housing to support the electronic display; and at least one clamp located in each of the vertical passageways sized to accommodate the elongate members; wherein said elongate members are secured to said housing by way of said clamps. 8. The suspended electronic display of claim 7 , further comprising: a barrier located within the substantially sealed compartment. 9. The suspended electronic display of claim 8 wherein: the barrier is oriented horizontally. 10. The suspended electronic display of claim 8 wherein: the barrier is oriented vertically. 11. The suspended electronic display of claim 7 further comprising: a fan located within the sealed compartment. 12. The suspended electronic display of claim 7 further comprising: a channel defined between a rear surface of the electronic display and a front surface of the substantially sealed compartment. 13. The suspended electronic display of claim 7 wherein: the substantially sealed compartment is defined by: a back pan positioned behind the electronic display and having a perimeter; a wall extending the perimeter of the back pan; and a rear cover placed atop the wall. 14. A suspended electronic display comprising: a liquid crystal type electronic display; a back pan positioned behind the electronic display to define a channel between the back pan and the electronic display having a left vertical edge and a right vertical edge, wherein said channel is configured to receive ambient air; a first vertical passageway extending along the left vertical edge of the channel and second vertical passageway extending along the right vertical edge of the channel; at least one flexible elongate member located in each of the vertical passageways to support the electronic display in a suspended arrangement from a fixed, overhead member and affix the electronic display to a fixed, lower member; and a plurality of clamps sized to accept the flexible elongate members wherein at least one of the clamps is located in each of the first and second vertical passageways; a rear cover positioned atop of the back pan to substantially surround the rear surface of the electronic display; and a sealed chamber defined by the back pan, the first vertical passage, the second vertical passage, and the rear cover; wherein said sealed chamber is located entirely behind the electronic display. 15. The suspended electronic display of claim 14 further comprising: a fan placed within the sealed chamber. 16. The suspended electronic display of claim 14 further comprising: a partition placed within the sealed chamber.
