Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in durability, the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode active material, the surface of which is coated with a film formed of an inorganic solid electrolyte, wherein a change in volume of the positive electrode active material during charge and discharge is reduced to prevent deterioration of the film with which the surface of the positive electrode active material is coated. In a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode active material, the surface of which is coated with a film formed of an inorganic solid electrolyte, the positive electrode active material is a lithium-containing composite oxide having a spinel structure, and contains at least one of Ti and Mg as an additional element.

The invention claimed is: 1. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a non-aqueous electrolyte solution and a positive electrode provided with a positive electrode mixture layer, wherein the positive electrode mixture layer includes positive electrode active material particles, a surface of each of the positive electrode active material particles is coated with a film formed of an inorganic solid electrolyte, and a positive electrode active material of the positive electrode active material particles is a lithium-containing composite oxide having a spinel structure, is represented by the compositional formula: LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 , performs charge and discharge at an electric potential of 4.5 V or more with respect to the lithium metal, and contains at least one of Ti and Mg as a dopant. 2. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 1 , wherein the dopant is Ti.
