A method of forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground to include a post receiving cavity to insertably receive and support a post is provided. The method includes positioning a post sleeve core within the post hole with the aid of an elongate installation member and depositing uncured material into the post hole to at least partially surround the post sleeve core while the post sleeve core is attached to the elongate installation member. The method further includes allowing the uncured material to harden around the post sleeve core to form at least a portion of the post-receiving cavity of the post sleeve and removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material to expose the post receiving cavity to receive and support the post. Other related methods of forming post sleeves are also provided.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method of forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground to include a post receiving cavity to insertably receive and support a post, the method comprising: locating the post hole in the ground and, after locating the post hole in the ground: using an elongate installation member to position a post sleeve core within the post hole; at least partially surrounding the post sleeve core with uncured material while the post sleeve core is attached to the elongate installation member; allowing the uncured material to harden around the post sleeve core to form at least a portion of the post-receiving cavity of the post sleeve; after allowing the uncured material to harden, driving the elongate installation member downward to break through any material that may have hardened below the elongate installation member; and removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material to expose the post receiving cavity to receive and support the post. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: adjusting a position of the post sleeve core along a length of the elongate installation member prior to allowing the uncured material to harden. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the post sleeve core includes a core stiffener and an elastomeric shell, and wherein removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material to expose the post receiving cavity comprises removing the core stiffener from the elastomeric shell and subsequently removing the elastomeric shell from the post receiving cavity formed in the hardened material. 4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: coupling a prefabricated post sleeve component to the post sleeve core; and positioning the prefabricated post sleeve component within the post hole simultaneously with the positioning of the post sleeve core. 5. The method of claim 4 wherein coupling the prefabricated post sleeve component to the post sleeve core comprises engaging the prefabricated post sleeve component with a clamping arrangement that is coupled to an upper end of the post sleeve core. 6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: prior to depositing the uncured material into the post hole, positioning the post sleeve core at an elevated height above a bottom of the post hole with the elongate installation member. 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the elongate installation member is unthreaded. 8. The method of claim 1 wherein using the elongate installation member to position the post sleeve core includes extending a lower portion of the elongate installation member beyond a bottom of the post sleeve core, and wherein the lower portion of the elongate installation member contacts the uncured material to form a cavity distinct from the portion of the post-receiving cavity of the post sleeve. 9. The method of claim 1 wherein using the elongate installation member to position the post sleeve core within the post hole includes positioning the post sleeve core offset from a bottom of the post hole with the elongate installation member. 10. A method of forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground to include a post receiving cavity to insertably receive and support a post, the method comprising: locating the post hole in the ground and, after locating the post hole in the ground: using an elongate installation member to position a post sleeve installation assembly that includes a post sleeve core and a core stiffener and to position a prefabricated post sleeve component within the post hole such that the post sleeve core extends below the prefabricated post sleeve element, such that the elongate installation member extends below the post sleeve installation assembly, and such that uncured material in the post hole at least partially surrounds the post sleeve core and at least partially surrounds the prefabricated post sleeve component while the post sleeve core and the prefabricated post sleeve component are attached to the elongate installation member; allowing the uncured material to harden around the post sleeve core and the prefabricated post sleeve component to collectively form the post sleeve; and removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material while leaving the prefabricated post sleeve component in place to form an upper portion of the post sleeve. 11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: adjusting a position of the post sleeve core and a position of the prefabricated post sleeve component along a length of the elongate installation member prior to allowing the uncured material to harden. 12. The method of claim 10 wherein the post sleeve core includes an elastomeric shell, and wherein removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material to expose the post receiving cavity comprises removing the core stiffener from the elastomeric shell and subsequently removing the elastomeric shell from the post receiving cavity formed in the hardened material. 13. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: after allowing the uncured material to harden, driving the installation member downward to break through any material that may have hardened below the installation member. 14. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: prior to depositing the uncured material into the post hole, positioning the post sleeve core and the prefabricated post sleeve component at an elevated height above a bottom of the post hole with the elongate installation member. 15. The method of claim 10 wherein the elongate installation member is unthreaded. 16. The method of claim 10 wherein supporting the post sleeve core includes positioning the post sleeve core such that the elongate installation member extends a selected distance from a bottom of the post sleeve core and the elongate installation member contacts the uncured material to form a cavity distinct from a portion of the a post-receiving cavity of the post sleeve formed by the post sleeve core. 17. The method of claim 10 wherein using the elongate installation member to position the post sleeve core and the prefabricated post sleeve component within the post hole includes positioning the post sleeve core and the prefabricated post sleeve component offset from a bottom of the post hole with the elongate installation member. 18. A method of forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground to include a post receiving cavity to insertably receive and support a post, the method comprising: coupling a prefabricated post sleeve element to a post sleeve installation assembly that includes: an elastomeric post sleeve core configured to be positioned in a post cavity of the prefabricated post sleeve element and to extend below the prefabricated post sleeve element, and a core stiffener configured to be positioned in a stiffener cavity of the elastomeric post sleeve core and having an aperture extending therethrough, positioning an installation member through the core stiffener to extend below the installation assembly; locating the post hole in the ground and, after locating the post hole in the ground: positioning the installation assembly and the prefabricated post sleeve element in the post hole with the use of the installation member; placing uncured material in the post hole; separating the installation member from the installation assembly; removing the core stiffener from the elastomeric post sleeve core; and removing the elastomeric post sleeve core from the prefabricated post sleeve element. 19. The method of claim 18 , further comprising: after the uncured material is hardened
