Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

System, apparatuses, and methods for bringing a shopping container to a customer in a shopping space are provided. A system for bringing a shopping container to a customer in a shopping space comprises a plurality of sensors, a plurality of motorized transport units, and a control circuit. The control circuit being configured to: receive a shopping container request from a user interface device associated with the customer, determine at least one available shopping container based on data collected by the plurality of sensors, the at least one available shopping container being empty and not used by another customer, select an available shopping container based at least on a location information of the user interface device, select a motorized transport unit to transport the available shopping container, and provide instructions to the motorized transport unit to bring the available shopping container to the customer.

What is claimed is: 1. A system for bringing a shopping container to a customer in a shopping space comprising: a plurality of sensors; a plurality of motorized transport units; and a control circuit communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors and the plurality of motorized transport units, the control circuit being configured to: receive a shopping container request from a user interface device associated with the customer; determine at least one available shopping container among a plurality of shopping containers based on data collected by the plurality of sensors, the at least one available shopping container being empty and not used by another customer; select an available shopping container from the at least one available shopping container based at least on a location information of the user interface device; select a motorized transport unit from among the plurality of motorized transport units to transport the available shopping container; and provide instructions to the motorized transport unit to bring the available shopping container to the customer. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of sensors comprise a plurality of image sensors, and wherein the at least one available shopping container is determined based on analyzing images of the plurality of shopping containers to determine which ones of the plurality of shopping containers are empty. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one available shopping container is determined based on tracking idle times of the plurality of shopping containers to determine which ones of the plurality of shopping containers are not used by another customer. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is further configured to receive shopping container location information gathered by locations sensors attached to each of the plurality of shopping containers. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the location information of the user interface device is determined based on data detected by a location sensor of the user interface device and transmitted to the control circuit. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the location sensor of the user interface device comprises an optical sensor configured to receive data from a smart light emission diode (LED) transmitting information corresponding to the smart LED's location. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of motorized transport units are configured to attach to and carry shopping containers. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the shopping container request further includes a selection of container types, and selecting of the available shopping container is further based on the selection of container types. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the available shopping container and the motorized transport unit are selected to minimize a time required to deliver the available shopping container to the customer. 10. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a shopping container tracking database storing availability information on each of the plurality of shopping containers, wherein the at least one available shopping container is determined by querying a shopping container tracking database. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein instructions to the motorized transport unit to bring the available shopping container comprises instructions for the motorized transport unit travels to the location of the available shopping container and couple with the available shopping container prior to bringing the available shopping container to the customer. 12. A method for bringing a shopping container to a customer in a shopping space comprising: receiving, at a control circuit, a shopping container request from a user interface device associated with the customer; determining, by the control circuit, at least one available shopping container among a plurality of shopping containers based on data collected by a plurality of sensors communicatively coupled to the control circuit, the at least one available shopping container being empty and not used by another customer; selecting, by the control circuit, an available shopping container from the at least one available shopping container based at least on a location information of the user interface device; selecting, by the control circuit, a motorized transport unit from among a plurality of motorized transport units communicatively coupled to the control circuit to transport the available shopping container; and providing, by the control circuit, instructions from the control circuit to the motorized transport unit to bring the available shopping container to the customer. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of sensors comprise a plurality of image sensors, and wherein the at least one available shopping container is determined based on analyzing images of the plurality of shopping containers to determine which ones of the plurality of shopping containers are empty. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the at least one available shopping container is determined based on tracking idle times of the plurality of shopping containers to determine which ones of the plurality of shopping containers are not used by another customer. 15. The method of claim 12 , further comprising: receiving, at the control circuit, shopping container location information gathered by locations sensors attached to each of the plurality of shopping containers. 16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the location information of the user interface device is determined based on data detected by a location sensor of the user interface device and transmitted to the control circuit. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the location sensor of the user interface device comprises an optical sensor configured to receive data from a smart light emission diode (LED) transmitting information corresponding to the smart LED's location. 18. The method of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of motorized transport units are configured to attach to and carry shopping containers. 19. The method of claim 12 , wherein the shopping container request further includes a selection of container type, and selecting of the available shopping container is further based on the selection of container type. 20. The method of claim 12 , wherein the available shopping container and the motorized transport unit are selected to minimize a time required to deliver the available shopping container to the customer. 21. The method of claim 12 , wherein determining the at least one available shopping container comprises querying a shopping container tracking database storing availability information on each of the plurality of shopping containers. 22. The method of claim 12 , wherein instructions to the motorized transport unit to bring the available shopping container comprises instructions for the motorized transport unit travels to the location of the available shopping container and couple with the available shopping container prior to bringing the available shopping container to the customer. 23. An apparatus for providing a shopping container for a customer in a shopping space comprising: a non-transitory storage medium storing a set of computer readable instructions; and a control circuit configured to execute the set of computer readable instructions which causes to the control circuit to: receive a shopping container request from a user interface device associated with the customer; determine at least one available sho
