Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods for marking an event of interest within a spherical video segment are provided. The spherical video segment may define visual content viewable from a point of view. User input designating an event of interest within the visual content may be received. The user input may indicate a point in time in the spherical video segment and a viewing angle of the event of interest. Tag information associated with the event of interest may be generated. The tag information may identify the point in time and the viewing angle such that notification of alert information is effectuated based on a determination that the viewing angle, proximate to the point in time during a subsequent presentation of the spherical video segment, is outside a display field of view. The alert information may indicate that the event of interest is located outside the display field of view.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A system for marking an event of interest within a spherical video segment, the system comprising: a display configured to present images; a sensor configured to generate output signals conveying information related to an orientation of the display; and one or more physical computer processors configured by computer readable instructions to: obtain the spherical video segment that defines visual content viewable from a point of view; determine the orientation of the display based on the output signals; determine a display field of view from the point of view within the spherical video segment to be presented on the display based on the orientation of the display; effectuate presentation on the display of the visual content defined by the spherical video segment within the display field of view; receive user input designating an event of interest within the visual content defined by the spherical video segment, the user input indicating a point in time in the spherical video segment and a viewing angle of the event of interest from the point of view within the visual content defined by the spherical video segment; and generate tag information associated with the event of interest, the tag information identifying the point in time and the viewing angle such that the one or more physical processors effectuates notification of alert information based on a determination that the viewing angle, proximate to the point in time during a subsequent presentation of the spherical video segment, is outside the display field of view, the alert information indicating that the event of interest is located outside the display field of view. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the notification includes an audible representation of the alert information, the audible representation played in a right ear or a left ear of a user based on the direction in which the user should look to view the event of interest. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the audible representation is played in the right ear of the user to indicate that the user should look to the right and is played in the left ear of the user to indicate that the user should look to the left. 4. The system of claim 2 , wherein the audible representation of the alert information includes an audible direction to orient the display to include the viewing angle within the display field of view. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the alert information includes zoom information indicating a user to increase or decrease visible degrees within the display field of view. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more physical computer processors are further configured to automatically alter the display field of view to display the event of interest. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to: store the tag information associated with the event of interest for the spherical video segment. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to: effectuate transmission of the tag information associated with the event of interest to a client computing platform. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the proximate to the point in time includes one or more of a predefined time period prior to the point in time, a predefined time period after the point in time, and/or the point in time. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the notification includes a graphical representation of the alert information within the display field of view. 11. A method for marking an event of interest within a spherical video segment, the method comprising: obtaining the spherical video segment that defines visual content viewable from a point of view; determining an orientation of a display based on output signals generated by a sensor, wherein the display is configured to present images and the output signals convey information related to the orientation of the display; determining a display field of view from the point of view within the spherical video segment to be presented on the display based on the orientation of the display; effectuating presentation on the display of the visual content defined by the spherical video segment within the display field of view ; receiving user input designating an event of interest within the visual content defined by the spherical video segment, the user input indicating a point in time in the spherical video segment and a viewing angle of the event of interest from the point of view within the visual content defined by the spherical video segment; and generating tag information associated with the event of interest, the tag information identifying the point in time and the viewing angle such that the one or more physical processors effectuates notification of alert information based on a determination that the viewing angle, proximate to the point in time during a subsequent presentation of the spherical video segment, is outside the display field of view, the alert information indicating that the event of interest is located outside the display field of view. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the notification includes an audible representation of the alert information, the audible representation played in a right ear or a left ear of a user based on the direction in which the user should look to view the event of interest. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the audible representation is played in the right ear of the user to indicate that the user should look to the right and is played in the left ear of the user to indicate that the user should look to the left. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the audible representation of the alert information includes an audible direction to orient the display to include the viewing angle within the display field of view. 15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the alert information includes zoom information indicating a user to increase or decrease visible degrees within the display field of view. 16. The method of claim 11 , further comprising automatically altering the display field of view to display the event of interest. 17. The method of claim 11 , further comprising storing the tag information associated with the event of interest for the spherical video segment. 18. The method of claim 17 , further comprising effectuating transmission of the tag information associated with the event of interest to a client computing platform. 19. The method of claim 11 , wherein the proximate to the point in time includes one or more of a predefined time period prior to the point in time, a predefined time period after the point in time, and/or the point in time. 20. The method of claim 11 , wherein the notification includes a graphical representation of the alert information within the display field of view.
