A steam generator includes: a water storage chamber which stores water therein, a first heating portion which heats water stored in the water storage chamber to generate steam, a water supply device which supplies the water storage chamber with water, a controller, a steam spout port which ejects steam generated in the water storage chamber therethrough, and a temperature detector which detects a temperature in the water storage chamber, wherein a water level in the water storage chamber is calculated depending on the temperature detected by the temperature detector, and wherein at the time of steam generation, the controller is configured to perform a water supply control of the water supply device based on the calculated water level such that a water volume from the first heating portion to a water surface is smaller than a water volume from the first heating portion to the bottom surface of the water storage chamber.

What is claimed is: 1. A steam generator comprising: a water storage chamber configured to store water therein, a first heating portion configured to heat water stored in the water storage chamber and to generate steam, the first heating portion located proximate to a vertical center of the water storage chamber, a water supply device configured to supply the water storage chamber with water, a controller, a steam spout port that ejects steam generated in the water storage chamber therethrough, and a temperature detector configured to detect a temperature in the water storage chamber, wherein the water storage chamber includes a front surface and a back surface facing each other within the water storage chamber, and a first distance from the front surface to the back surface is greater at a first location below the first heating portion than at a second distance from the front surface and the back surface at a second location, the second location intermediate to the first heating portion and the first location, wherein the controller is configured to calculate a water level in the water storage chamber depending on the temperature detected by the temperature detector, and wherein the controller is further configured to perform a water supply control of the water supply device during steam generation based on the calculated water level, such that a water volume from the first heating portion to a water surface is smaller than a water volume from the first heating portion to a bottom surface of the water storage chamber. 2. A steam generator comprising: a water storage chamber configured to store water therein, a first heating portion configured to heat water stored in the water storage chamber and to generate steam, the first heating portion extending laterally across the water storage chamber and located proximate to a vertical center of the water storage chamber, a water supply device configured to supply the water storage chamber with water, a controller, a steam spout port that ejects steam generated in the water storage chamber therethrough, and a thermistor configured to communicate to the controller, such that the controller determines a water level in the water storage chamber, wherein, the controller is configured to perform a water supply control of the water supply device during steam generation based on the water level calculated by the controller, such that a water volume from the first heating portion to a water surface is smaller than a water volume from the first heating portion to a bottom surface of the water storage chamber. 3. The steam generator according to claim 1 , further comprising a second heating portion above and spaced apart in a steam flow direction from the first heating portion, wherein an output of the first heating portion is not less than that of the second heating portion. 4. The steam generator according to any one of claim 1 , further comprising a water supply port below the first heating portion within the water storage chamber and configured to allow the water supply device to supply the water storage chamber with water. 5. A heating cooker including the steam generator according to claim 1 .
