The present invention relates to the novel flavor and fragrance use of 2,6-dipropyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3-carbaldehyde.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of improving, enhancing or modifying a flavor composition through the addition of an olfactory acceptable amount of 2,6-dipropyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3-carbaldehyde, wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is greater than about 0.1 parts per billion by weight of the flavor composition. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the flavor composition is added to a material selected from the group consisting of a foodstuff, a chewing gum, a dental product, an oral hygiene product and a medicinal product. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 1 part per billion to about 1000 parts per million by weight of the flavor composition. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 10 parts per billion to about 100 parts per million by weight of the flavor composition. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the olfactory acceptable amount is from about 100 parts per billion to about 10 parts per million by weight of the flavor composition.
