The invention claimed is: 1. A gaming device comprising: a display for displaying outcomes of games played on the gaming device; an input device operable by the player for generating indicia related to the player's identity; a leader board for displaying scores that are each associated with indicia so generated; at least one of a coin acceptor, ticket acceptor, bill acceptor, and a physical object for engaging the gaming device with a credit or debit account; a credit meter for receiving credits from at least one of the acceptors and accounts; an actuator for initiating a game on the gaming device; a ticket printer for printing a ticket reflecting the balance of the player's credits remaining on the gaming device in response to actuation of a cash-out button on the electronic gaming device; and at least one processor configured to: predefine a total number of consecutively wagered credits for a score tracking session associated with a player of the electronic gaming device; apply at least one of the received credits as a wager on an outcome of a game played on the electronic gaming device responsive to receipt of an input to the gaming device; generate a random outcome of a game in response to a player-initiated input to the actuator; determine an amount awarded based on the random outcome; track the amount awarded by the gaming device in response to wagers placed and games played by the player up to the predefined number of credits wagered; divide the tracked amount awarded by the predefined number of credits wagered to generate an actual hold number; compare the actual hold number to a theoretical hold number for the gaming device; generate a score for the score tracking session that is a function of the comparison; display the score associated with the player's identifying indicia on the leader board; generate the score for each of a plurality of other players of the electronic gaming device; and display the other players' scores each associated with the respective players' identifying indicia on the leader board. 2. The gaming device of clam 1 wherein the processor is further configured to define the total consecutively wagered number of credits in response to a player input prior to the score tracking session. 3. The gaming device of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured to define the total consecutively wagered number of credits in response to an input from a casino operator. 4. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to reset the tracked amount to an initial value after completion of a gaming event and during a current score tracking session in response to a player input. 5. The gaming device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to reset the tracked amount after the number of credits is wagered that predefines the total consecutively wagered amount. 6. The gaming device of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured to modify light emitted by at least one light display associated with the one electronic gaming device as a function of the player's score during play of the one electronic gaming device by the player. 7. The gaming device of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured to hide: display of the score associated with the player's identifying indicia on the leader board; and display of the score and associated player identifying indicia for each of a last predefined number of players to play the electronic gaming device on the leader board. 8. The gaming device of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured to periodically display: the score associated with the player's identifying indicia on the leader board; and the score and associated player identifying indicia for each of a last predefined number of players to play the electronic gaming device on the leader board. 9. The gaming device of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured to display the score associated with the player's identifying indicia on the leader board and the score and associated player identifying indicia for each of a last predefined number of players to play the electronic gaming device on the leader board in response to actuation of an actuator on the electronic gaming device.
