Official abstract text for this publication.
A signal transmission device and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The signal transmission device comprises: a control unit for setting a state variable by using an application of the signal transmission device and for generating an event which can be used by an application of a companion device for a connection with the companion device; and a communication unit for transmitting the event to the companion device, wherein if a connection request signal is received from the companion device through the communication unit, the control unit registers an event for managing the connection with the companion device.

The invention claimed is: 1. A signal transmission device for transmitting/receiving data to/from a companion device, the signal transmission device comprising: a controller to set state variables using an application of the signal transmission device, wherein the controller sets a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) state variable including URI information of the application, and a name state variable including a name of the application; and a communicator to transmit values of the URI state variable and the name state variable to a companion application of the companion device, wherein the controller sets a ready state variable indicating whether the application is prepared to engage in a communication and an access point state variable indicating a Transport Service Access Point (TSAP) at which the application is accepting a connection, wherein the communicator transmits values of the ready state variable and the access point state variable to the companion application, and wherein the communicator receives a connection request for the connection from the companion application based on values of the state variables. 2. The signal transmission device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller approves the connection request and establishes the connection with the companion application, and wherein data is exchanged between the application and the companion application through the connection. 3. The signal transmission device according to claim 1 , wherein the state variables trigger at least one of an event usable by the application of the companion device and an event to manage connection with the companion device such that the companion application can asynchronously respond. 4. The signal transmission device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller generates an event for notifying the application of the signal transmission device of data received from the companion device. 5. The signal transmission device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller generates an event for indicating disconnection from the companion device. 6. A method for controlling a signal transmission device for transmitting/receiving data to/from a companion device, the method comprising: setting state variables using an application of the signal transmission device, wherein the setting the state variables sets a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) state variable including URI information of the application, and a name state variable including a name of the application; transmitting values of the URI state variable and the name state variable to a companion application of the companion device; setting a ready state variable indicating whether the application is prepared to engage in a communication and an access point state variable indicating a Transport Service Access Point (TSAP) at which the application is accepting a connection; transmitting values of the ready state variable and the access point state variable to the companion application; and receiving a connection request for the connection from the companion application based on values of the state variables. 7. The method according to claim 6 , further comprising approving the connection request and establishing the connection with the companion application, wherein data is exchanged between the application and the companion application through the connection. 8. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the state variables trigger at least one of an event usable by the application of the companion device and an event to manage connection with the companion device such that the companion application can asynchronously respond. 9. The method according to claim 6 , further comprising generating an event for notifying the application of the signal transmission device of data received from the companion device. 10. The method according to claim 6 , further comprising generating an event for indicating disconnection from the companion device.
