A closure and a container assembly are disclosed. The closure includes a first visual identifier and a second visual identifier, wherein the second visual identifier is different from the first visual identifier. The first visual identifier may be a first color, and the second visual identifier may be a second color. At least one of the first and/or second visual identifier may include a fluorescent compound having a characteristic fluorescent spectra. The first visual identifier and the second visual identifier may be provided on the annular skirt of the closure. The fluorescent compound may be provided on at least one of the closure and the container assembly and can be used to facilitate automated visualization of the fluorescent compound under fluorescence excitation light.

What is claimed is: 1. A device for collecting a biological sample, comprising: a patient sample collection container having a first end, a second end, and a sidewall extending therebetween; at least one closure for sealing at least one of the first end and the second end, the closure having a top portion and an annular skirt portion; and a first predefined visual identifier comprising a first fluorescent compound, wherein the first fluorescent compound is provided on the top portion of the closure, and a second predefined visual identifier is provided on the annular skirt portion of the closure, wherein the second visual identifier is formed from either a contrasting second fluorescent compound which is different than the first fluorescent compound or from a contrasting non-fluorescent material, wherein said second visual identifier is delineated from and visually discernable from the first visual identifier and wherein said first and second visual identifiers are co-molded with the at least one closure. 2. The device of claim 1 , wherein a first part of the closure comprises a stopper and a second part of the closure comprises a shield. 3. The device of claim 1 , wherein a first part of the closure comprises a cap and a second part of the closure comprises a septum. 4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the sidewall of the collection container defines an interior volume and the first portion of the closure is positioned within the interior volume. 5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the sidewall of the collection container defines an interior volume and the first portion of the closure is positioned outside of the interior volume.
