Systems and methods are presented for detecting users within a range of a media device. A detection region may be defined that is within the range of the media device and smaller than the range. The detection region may be stored. It may be determined whether a user is within the detection region. The media device may be activated and settings associated with the user may be applied when a user is within the detection region. In some embodiments, settings associated with a user may be compared to provided media content when the user is within the detection region. The content may change when the settings conflict with the media content. Reminders may be provided to or directed to a plurality of users within the range of the media device.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for generating for display advertisements for users within a detection range of a media device, the method comprising: detecting a first mobile device within a first detection region in the detection range of the media device, wherein the first detection region and the first mobile device are associated with a first user; detecting a second mobile device within a second detection region in the detection range of the media device, wherein the second detection region and the second mobile device are associated with a second user; logging the first user and the second user into the media device; causing, using the media device, without receiving, from the first user or the second user, a selection of an identifier of a first media content from a display that simultaneously displays the identifier of the first media content with an identifier of a second media content different from the media content, a generation of a display of the first media content that is selected based on both a first profile associated with the first user and a second profile associated with the second user; and generating for display, using the media device, an advertisement associated with the first user and the second user for the second media content. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: comparing properties of the second media content with preferences associated with the first user and the second user; determining a first probability that the first user will enjoy the second media content; and determining a second probability that the second user will enjoy the second media content. 3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising: in response to determining the first probability and the second probability, generating for display, using the media device, an indication that at least one of the first user and the second user will not enjoy the second media content. 4. The method of claim 2 , further comprising: in response to determining the first probability and the second probability, generating for display, using the media device, an indication that at least one of the first user and the second user will enjoy the second media content. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating for display the advertisement further comprises: comparing properties of the second media content with preferences associated with the first user and the second user; and generating for display the advertisement in response to determining that the properties of the second media content do not conflict with the preferences associated with the first user and the second user. 6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: generating for display, using the media device, an option to access the second media content on a different media device associated with at least one of the first user and the second user, wherein the different media device may be the first mobile device or the second mobile device. 7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: generating for display, using the media device, an option to access the second media content on a different media device, wherein at least one of the first user and the second user is detected within a different detection range of the different media device, but outside a different detection region associated with the different media device, wherein the different media device may be the first mobile device or the second mobile device. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating for display the advertisement further comprises generating for display the advertisement in response to determining that the first user and the second user are associated with a group. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating for display the advertisement further comprises generating for display the advertisement in response to determining that the first user owns the media device. 10. The method of claim 1 , wherein detecting the first mobile device further comprises detecting an RFID tag associated with the first mobile device, detecting a media control access address associated with the first mobile device, or detecting Bluetooth communications associated with the first mobile device. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identifier of the first media content is selectable from the display that simultaneously displays the identifier of the first media content with the identifier of the second media content different from the media content. 12. A system for generating for display advertisements for users within a detection range of a media device, the system comprising a media device configured to: detect a first mobile device within a first detection region in the detection range of the media device, wherein the first detection region and the first mobile device are associated with a first user; detect a second mobile device within a second detection region in the detection range of the media device, wherein the second detection region and the second mobile device are associated with a second user; log the first user and the second user into the media device; cause, using the media device, without receiving, from the first user or the second user, a selection of an identifier of a first media content from a display that simultaneously displays the identifier of the first media content with an identifier of a second media content different from the media content, a generation of a display of the first media content that is selected based on both a first profile associated with the first user and a second profile associated with the second user; and generate for display an advertisement for the second media content, wherein the advertisement is associated with the first user and the second user. 13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the media device is further configured to: compare properties of the second media content with preferences associated with the first user and the second user; determine a first probability that the first user will enjoy the second media content; and determine a second probability that the second user will enjoy the second media content. 14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the media device is further configured to: in response to determining the first probability and the second probability, generate for display an indication that at least one of the first user and the second user will not enjoy the second media content. 15. The system of claim 13 , wherein the media device is further configured to: in response to determining the first probability and the second probability, generate for display an indication that at least one of the first user and the second user will enjoy the second media content. 16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the media device configured to generate for display the advertisement is further configured to: compare properties of the second media content with preferences associated with the first user and the second user; and generate for display the advertisement in response to determining that the properties of the second media content do not conflict with the preferences associated with the first user and the second user. 17. The system of claim 12 , wherein the media device is further configured to: generate for display an option to access the second media content on a different media device associated with at least one of the first user and the second user, wherein the different media device may be the first mobile device or the second mobile device. 18. The system of claim 12 , wherein the media device is further configured to: generate for display a
